i. Main Street USA: Daylight Hours
The citizens of Main Street greet the coming of fall in a big way! The entire main part of town is decorated in the colors of fall, carved pumpkins on every window ledge, balcony and stoop! Some are rather creative, ranging from The King himself to various spook-tacular versions. There are also plain pumpkins, squash and apples arranged in a rather decorative (and tasty) presentation outside the Opera House!
Enjoy yourselves as The Candy Palace begins to hand out small, caramel and spice covered apple slices. The smell of apple fritters, grilled apples and apple bacon float through the air. Enjoy the rather relaxed daylight hours...
ii.Main Street USA: After Dark
Because the moment the sun sets, and the lamps have been lit- the entire street takes on a strange and unsettling demeanor. The pumpkins glow a soft, red color and bats and black cats crawl around the shadowed corners. You might see several citizens wandering the streets-but look to hard and they will suddenly vanish before you can even greet them.
The stores are still open and the sweets and treats are still pouring; but! Beware of happy haunts~!
iii. Yo ho, yo ho a Pirates life for me!
Ah! Smell that salty, briny air! It gives life to all those who are from or love the sea!
Which would be wonderful and invigorating, if this was the bottom of the beautiful briny sea. It isn't. It's the open garden in front of the train station which is no being over run by some rather fishy, lv. 2 Corroded! Can you help sweep the proverbial beach clean without being washed away by water based attacks? The conductors would be most grateful if you could!
iv.Come out and Socialize!
No need to be number one thousand! Imagination is the real host here, so go on and use your to come up with your own adventure. Just remember to take loved ones by the hand, please, our ghosts are frightfully sensitive to too much mischief~

Date: 2019-10-01 09:40 pm (UTC)It wasn't really all that shocking for her to end up in some strange, new area. A slightly normal if not jarring experience for one such as herself thanks to the cursed blood in her veins. Stumbling onto a new street might not have been terribly new but it was somewhat daunting when the people otherwise meandering the town were seemingly fading from view. Had she ended up in some sort of Netherworld?
Not one to let any fretting show outwardly if she could help it, Ciri approached the nearest being only to have them fade from view before she could even pose her question. She grimaced. "Are there none but I present here? Hello?"
iii; you have my sword — no, really
Having just arrived, Ciri hadn't had the pleasure of meeting those whom would grant her a weapon yet. Nor did she realize she was without hers. It wasn't until she closed in on the less than pleasant odor coming from the station that she realized she needed something to keep herself among the living. Hitching her breath when noticed, she reached a hand up over her shoulder to grab her blade and caught only air. Startled, she pulled her hand forward as though expecting to see a blade albeit knowing there wasn't one there.
"No—?! My blade! Where has it..."
iv; wildcard, you do you boo boo
Come at me, bro.

Date: 2019-10-01 09:50 pm (UTC)"Oh- so you're actually there?" Atem piped up from behind her sounding a bit sheepish for his efforts. With her pale complexion and light-colored hair he had mistaken her for one of the other ghostly specters. That coupled with the fact that he had not met her before.
"I'm sorry- I should have realized. Did you need help with something, Miss-..." He trailed off allowing her time to supply her name.

Date: 2019-10-01 10:07 pm (UTC)"No need, honestly." She was just thankful that he wasn't disappearing on her mid-talking. "I'm just glad I'm not actually not alone among whomever these people are."
"Ciri." Providing her name, the young witcher sighed to herself, looking around. "Help? Knowing where I am would be the first detail required, sir."

Date: 2019-10-01 10:25 pm (UTC)"It's a pleasure to meet you Ciri, I'm Atem," Placing a hand to his chest as he said so. "You don't know? Wasn't there anyone to greet you as you came through the mirror?" Looking a little startled by the very notion. Surely, either Merlin, Dreamfinder, or Hades would have been there to intercept each new arrival.
Must have been Hades watch.
cough."You're on Main Street." Then he paused a moment to think how best to clarify that. Lots of places have a Main Street. "It's an alternate universe as near as I can surmise.. but it's under attack from this phenomenon known as the corruption. The people of this land drew us here as a means of a last resort to save their home. If the corruption isn't stopped here, it is believed that it can spread elsewhere."

Date: 2019-10-01 10:40 pm (UTC)The young woman grew somewhat sheepish when he mentioned that someone should have been around for her to meet and greet with. It may have been that Ciri was less than cordial with whomever was tending to the mirror at the time given her constant need to hide and remain in the shadows. Which was difficult for one so pale and vibrantly shaded
thanks hair."Admittedly, I may have ventured off before someone could spot me." Not about to delve into her life story, Ciri left it at that."Main Street," that helped nothing, really. As he surmised there were plenty of places with a main street either properly named or nicknamed as such. Suffice it to say that Ciri was far less shocked to find herself in a whole new universe than others may be. She was used to it
unfortunatelybut surprised as she couldn't really remember initiating the travel herself. "Corruption?" A droll thing to be told about but not so unheard of. There were several malevolent beings and forces in her own world that people like the Witchers tended to work on removing from existence. Perhaps this was similar."Can it be spread through dimensions?"

Date: 2019-10-01 11:36 pm (UTC)Noting the momentary change in her demeanor, he was both a little amused and intrigued. Apparently she'd given the trio the slip and it had been intentional? "I see- well... I can understand the desire to given the unusual circumstances." It was prudent in a way- since they had been brought here against their wills. The people who drew them here didn't have to have had the best intentions. Well, consider the accusation pointed at Hades retracted then.
Ciri did seem to be taking the news well, considering. Was this not her first trip? Or perhaps she was more disoriented from the journey than she was letting on. Unconsciously he started looking to her to make sure she looked steady on her feet...... which she did seem to be.
"That is the theory, that if it finishes consuming this world it will travel to others."

Date: 2019-10-02 12:03 am (UTC)Though young, she had spent a lot of time fleeing, hiding and pretending to be someone else entirely so when she had passed through the mirror to see strange persons, she thought it best to find somewhere to regroup and pull herself together before attempting to wrap her mind around where she was and why she hadn't been able to warp back to her home. "If only this were the first time something so odd had happened to me." A bit telling, perhaps.
Strange thought it might have been for someone so new to an entirely new place, Ciri was just fine. She set her palms to the curves of her hips and frowned.
"That's awful. Is there any information on how it began? A creature causing the miasma perhaps?"

Date: 2019-10-02 01:09 am (UTC)That was not the sort of lifestyle this pharaoh was accustomed to. Well, unless you counted the time he spent borrowing Yugi Mutou's body and therefore identity, but there hadn't really been a suitable alternative at the time. No, whether it was in the past or the modern era he was used to having all eyes on him. His dramatic flare for dealing with opponents would have made it difficult to be inconspicuous. "It sounds as if there's quite the story to be told from that admission. You've traveled to other dimensions before?"
"The information has been...... a little light. Some of the people that would have been more knowledgeable on the subject have gone missing." Like Yen Sid. "The Corruption seeks out imagination... I forgot to mention that."

Date: 2019-10-02 01:23 am (UTC)"Ah, well." Admittedly she wasn't certain why she had let that leave her lips. It was as though her brain and mouth weren't communicating. His interest in the topic was liable to be innocent but given her consistent need to blend in with the shadows — difficult though it might've been with ashen hair, Ciri didn't bother to address it any further than that. She would need to mind herself better in the future and perhaps adorn a proverbial mask or two as she had in the past. Once recognized, the once princess was equally familiar with being eyed from all angles although hated every moment of it. "Sorry, I seem to be suffering a bit of a haze." Hopefully that would work to backpedal on the admission.
"Imagination?" Cirilla couldn't help but laugh at that one. This was sounding less like a burden on time and space, and more like a child's nightmare needing to be hugged out. "Why not simply imagine the corruption away? Surely it can't attack all minds at once."
no subject
Date: 2019-10-02 02:26 am (UTC)His lips dipped downward slightly as she laughed at was a very serious situation. Yes, it did sound a little ridiculous on the surface but it was very much a real concern. "If only it were that simple. I should think that the inhabitants would have managed that by now were it possible." They were outnumbered.
"I suppose I should also mention that you can choose not to assist in missions if you would rather not. No one would force you into it. I would just suggest gathering information from multiple sources, before making up your mind."
no subject
Date: 2019-10-02 03:42 am (UTC)She hadn't meant to insult him in some manner with the laughter but it was something of a joke to her. Imagination? That was one of the oddest things she had ever heard of although there were creatures in her world that addled the mind. "Of course, apologies. I just find the whole thing a bit... well, I'm a cynic. Don't pay mind to me."
"Missions?" Honestly, she should have listened to whomever it had been at the mirror when she stumbled into this... world. "What are you talking about?"
no subject
Date: 2019-10-02 03:55 pm (UTC)It wasn't so much that he took it as an insult as he was more concerned for her own safety. If she didn't take what he was saying to heart then she could fall prey to the spirits and creatures herself, or endanger others. Her apology coupled with calling herself a cynic seemed to get him to relax a little. "I have had some experience was cynics. Less so here..." but it wasn't hard to tell that whomever he was thinking of was someone he liked in spite of how difficult they could be. "It is a lot to accept all at once."
"There's a mission board in town, where you can apply to complete various tasks. There are other times when you might be asked directly by one of the inhabitants for help."

Date: 2019-10-02 04:38 pm (UTC)She had no intention of getting into the Elder Blood but that was neither here nor there as it wasn't in question and in spite of the initial slip up, the young girl didn't appear to be bringing it back up. For now and hopefully, for always.
Ciri may well have told him that his concern was sweet but unnecessary. She might have laughed but when it came down to it, if the threat was real, she would have given it her all to ensure survival — be it her own or someone else's. "Honestly, I think the only persons whom I know all that well are cynics themselves." The word 'think' in that sentence was more or less unnecessary given that Yennefer and Geralt were some of the most skeptic people she had ever encountered. His tone reflected that he wasn't lacking fondness for whomever he spoke about and it brought the smallest of smiles to her lips. "Most shockingly new things are, I suppose."
"That reminds me of Witcher's work," it was an off-handed remark. There were several boards in towns, villages and cities around her homeland that were home to postings for aid and most of the time it was specific to the kind of work she was once trained for. It was a long shot but Ciri suddenly felt the need to ask: "I don't suppose that you might've come across a man with white hair? Rather large, scarred and somewhat menacing looking? He goes by the name Geralt of Rivia."

Date: 2019-10-02 07:35 pm (UTC)For his part, atem wouldn't have assumed it had anything to do with her blood at all. The other time travelers hadn't needed anything so personal or unique to traverse the stars. Even in his own dimension Kaiba had used some pseudo science/magic hybrid technology to find his way to the afterlife.
The reassurance would have been appreciated even if it was only her word. He would have chosen to believe it until such time that she had proven herself to be untrustworthy- which might never come to pass. It had always been an uphill battle trying to convince this certain someone about the existence of destiny and magic. It had led to many a headache. "Mm, indeed."
"Witcher's work?" The term was foreign to him. The root he'd heard before.. "witch" but he wasn't sure what adding an "er" did for it. Atem paused to consider the description a moment before shaking his head. "No, I'm afraid that I have never met anyone matching that description."

Date: 2019-10-02 09:26 pm (UTC)Dimensional travel appeared to be something plenty of people here were accustomed to. Perhaps that was among the traits regarded upon when choosing a new person to pull in through the mirror. Or maybe not. Who knew?
Convincing someone that magic was real sounded like it could be quite the chore. For her part, Ciri grew up among witchers and sorceresses, it wasn't that difficult to see the magic all around the world. Especially given that several of the beings witchers were hired to take care of tended to be magical themselves ( vampires, succubi... ) — it would be foolish not to believe completely. Foolish and quite deadly.
"They're a sort of mercenary from where I hail," it wasn't all that difficult to picture someone not knowing what a witcher might be given that she had met so many in other dimensions whom hadn't heard of the term. "They work with the supernatural." While it had been something of a shot in the dark to hope that someone might have seen Geralt — and she had assumed the answer would be a no, Ciri was still disappointed to get the negative response. It showed in her pale features as she dropped her vibrant green gaze to the ground. "I see, thank you for the honesty."

Date: 2019-10-02 11:35 pm (UTC)That was something that Atem had also considered.
No kidding about that latter part. Despite the danger Kaiba was always disregarding what even his eyes had been able to behold. To him everything had to have a logical solution, one rooted in science not magic. Though more recently- perhaps he was finally willing to accept certain elements. He had acknowledged that the pharaoh existed. It was a start.
"Ah, I see. They would find no shortage of work to be done here." Though they did seem to be drawing nearer to clearing the jungle region, there would be others. From her reaction, he could tell that she was disappointed and he wished they he had held a different answer for her. "I only wish that I could have had better news for you."

Date: 2019-10-03 12:18 am (UTC)Great minds.
Science and magic went hand in hand where Ciri came from. Magic was studied fairly scientifically and rather than being at odds with one another, they were just both considered something to study. Yennefer had taught her some in her youth but Ciri had relinquished the magic. The power coursing through her veins was unable to be released the same way. At least his friend had come around in the end — vaguely though it might have been. It was a start at least.
"Apparently not," she glanced off into the distance as though she knew where the board was. She didn't. "Nor will I. I may not formally be a witcher although I will do what I can."
Ciri might come off as being frosty now and then but in the depths of her core, she just wanted to help people. She wanted to be as Geralt was even though his profession wasn't always looked upon with positivity. Her disappointment was clear but she shook her head gently. "Quite alright, really. I thought that it might be a stretch to hope." She shifted her hips and glanced to the pharaoh. "Atem, I wonder if you might show me to the board? I'd like to see it for myself."
