I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.

But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.

II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.

III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!

IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

Crowley - Good Omens

I - On a mission? He was on a mission alright!

He snaked forward, his large black wings folding themselves up neatly behind him as he entered the Holly Jolly Bakery and glanced quickly around. Empty. The store’s owner was as missing from the counter as it had appeared they were from glancing in through the window on the street.
It was an odd feeling actually being hungry. He knew humans had the feeling, that urgent nagging sensation that told them when it was past time to eat, but as a demon he had never experienced it. Crowley had only ever eaten recreationally before, because it was fun and food was tasty. This was new, unwelcome, and making him a touch desperate. His stomach growled, actually GROWLED, loudly enough to be heard and he reacted by reaching over the counter to snatch a bagel. You knew it had to be an emergency situation to steal a plain old bagel without first toasting it and adding jam or egg, or some of that fancy cheese an acquaintance of his enjoyed so.

Master theft completed he escaped the business and flew up to sit on the roof of one of the buildings, a place he deemed more suitable to eating a dry stolen bagel than the very open and easy to reach park benches below.

III - The monster roared and ripped one of the benches off the ground sending it crashing into the nearest plate glass window while Crowley from his elevated perch on the roof whistled appreciatively. Breakfast on the roof, wonderful idea!

“Who knew there would be beasts like that one during Armageddon? Beasts, yes... one beast in particular... but I don’t remember stories of him bringing along his werewolf friends.”

Which was odd but maybe the invasion of the werewolves was one of those signs of the End Times.

“I suppose it could have been stranger, it could have been aliens bringing a message of 'Universal peace and cosmic harmony an' suchlike.' ”

The werewolf-like monster’s ear twitched, then it looked up to the roof, to let out a deafening howl. Crowley felt his skin grow cold.

“It can see me... Even with my wings out it can see me...”

That wasn’t supposed to happen. What also wasn’t supposed to happen was for the monster to grab the nearest trash can and in a fit of rage and frustration power launch it up at the recently breakfasted and temporarily fear frozen demon.

IV - This place reminded him of a song. Reminded in that he recalled there was such a song but the memory of the melody was completely absent. Annoying as all get out that song! It wasn't the lease bit irritating that he couldn't recall the tune... that he believed was something of a, dare he think it, blessing. But, the song itself was annoying. He remembered it as a sort of ear worm that got into your mind and simply wouldn't leave.

"Odd thing, ear worms..."

Crowley spoke to no one in particular.

"They are supposed to be songs that you can't forget. No matter what you do... listen to another song, shower, have a meal... as soon as you've done the song is back... ear worming you into insanity."

He fluffed his wings as he looked out over this foreign world.

"So why can't I remember it?"

Maybe it was a little irritating.

Lydia was just coming out of the Emporium with her own prizes as she saw Crowley fly up to the roof with his bagel, and her eyes grew wide.

"You actually have wings!" She cried up to him, beaming. "That's amazing! Have you always had them?"

"Uh..."

Crowley took a seat, folded up his wings neatly behind him, and looked down at the odd girl through his sunglasses.

"From the beginning, off and on..." When he wasn't a snake, "You can see me? Actually see me? You aren't supposed to be able to do that!"

Sadly, Crowly wasn't as invisible (or as unnoticed) as he might assume.

"Halt, evildoer!" Being accosted by a teenager dressed like she fell out of a fantasy anime was probably new. "Surrender that bagel in the name of Justice."

Look, Amelia has had a confusing morning (even by her own standards), and is doubling down on her core beliefs: that 'Stealing is Wrong' and that she is clearly a Hero of Justice and that what that meant didn't depend on where she was. Of course, this was easier when her magic was... more reliable than it was now. Should she try to climb something or use magic?

Well, maybe the interloper (whatever he was: the wings looked a bit like an Ancient Dragon's, but they were mostly extinct) would listen to her commanding voice.

"Halt, evildoer??"

Incredulously Crowley did stop, more to pull a face than to actually surrender.

"Did you actually just say, 'Halt, evildoer'? Why that's... It's like something you hear in those silly animated series not something anyone ever actually says."

He did not in fact decide to surrender the bagel in the name of justice either. Demons didn't care much about justice. Not that he was particularly against the idea it was more that demons did have their own sense of what justice was.
In this case justice was boldly licking the bagel this girl wished to take from him so that his poor aching stomach could be soothed. Crowley made a sad face and looked to the bagel as if it were now tainted.

"They would just have to throw it out now. Couldn't possibly sell this thing now... I should eat it to prevent it's being wasted."

"Oh for the love of--" He can't get up there in time. There is no force on Earth that will let him and Heaven seems to be non respondent. He was all out of miracles.

"Crowley, you great idiot! Move!" And he did his best to try to distract the werewolf, moving into its line of sight.

"Hello. I do admire your...er...teeth. But I was wondering if you'd raaather--" he nearly isn't able to get out of the way as the claws swing at him. "Really! Can't we be civil? Aren't you...half human or something?!"

Move. Right, good plan really.

Only he didn't so much move as fall for while ducking out of the way of the airborne garbage can it caught him in the shoulder sending him into a tumble that deposited him unceremoniously on the ground. Not the ground proper, thankfully, as that might have hurt or broken something but into the loving arms of a well trimmed bush. His shoulder screamed at him but he snarled against the protests as he struggled to right himself.

Azriaphale!

He knew he had heard the angel's voice but seeing him here, facing off to that large... furry... whatever...

"What in the hell are you doing?! Inviting him to tea?? He doesn't want tea!"

Despite the pain it sent shooting through his shoulder, Crowley raised his arms trying to call up the fires of Hell, some sort of demonic intervention that would give that stupid foolish angel the chance to get away from the Beast, but there was nothing. No fire, not even an ember... or smoke, just nothing.

Thinking quickly he grabbed a stone off the ground, one of those usually used for edging and winged it, awkwardly and with the wrong hand, at the monster. It was a bad throw but it still managed to bounce off the werewolf's back. The monster turned and growled low in it's throat before settling into a ambush position preparing to attack the one who had just struck it.

"Get out of there!"

A shadow in the shape of a arrow splits the trash can in half and shadow trash bags gather it up. "Honestly does anyone know how to actually fight around here," growled a voice behind Crowley.

A man dressed in black from head to toe charges at the monster his sword slashing the air creating more shadow arrows. "Move," he yells not even blinking at the wings. He's seen weirder than that to be honest. "Or if you aren't going to move start helping and make sure the street is clear of people."

"God I miss Oliver," the man said his tone sad.

Part of him balked at the idea of being given an order by a stranger but this deferred to other more life conscious part of him which didn't feel like dying to a flying trash can. He moved, extending his wings enough to flit himself over to a chimney to duck behind.

"Not really my job description really, saving people. Besides it's their own fault if after seeing that huge creature come after me they decided not to go hide inside."

Mal might have watched the whole little theft drama playing out with amusement. It had actually been hilarious. Almost adorable, really. She smirked. When he headed out, she casually headed in, and helped herself to a coffee and a bagel that was actually covered in cream cheese and yes, strawberry preserves. She had the bagel in a bag and the coffee cup lidded, seeming to drop the munny it cost in the till on her way out, when the reality was that the main theft was right in that moment, when she paid with a five while palming two twenties. Those got slipped into the bagel bag as she acted as though she was trying to juggle the bag and coffee while getting the door. Easier than taking candy from a baby in Auradon.

When she came out she looked around before spotting him on the roof. Okay, that was almost impressive. She smirked up at him. "Mind giving a girl a hand up to see the view?" she called up to him. "Might even give you a few pointers while I'm up there."

Smug arrogance, thy name is Mal.

The demon glanced up from his stolen bagel but didn't bother to do more than that. Give her a hand up? What did she think he was an elevator?

"If you are so clever you can find your own way up."

"Um, pretty sure it's more his claws we have to watch out for than his arms." Elan ducked as something was thrown. His mismatched eyes went wide. "Never mind you were right the first time. But I don't get it! How could this be armageddon? No one even blew up a gate this time!"

See, a good intro for plot exposition was always useful and was the duty of all party members.

By far this was the most baffling little person he had run across. Crowley just stared at him, well... ducked the flying trash can and then stared at him.

"What do you mean this time Armageddon only comes around once."

Have a somewhat rude snort. "My guess would be whatever about this Dimension stole everyone's magic stole the earworms themselves as well." And while in a way he was right... He was also thinking quite literally.

It was an idea, an odd idea but...

"You think some one's starting a collection? Gathering together all of the ear worms of the universe?"

The master thief's actions didn't go unnoticed. Ears flicking upright indicating her intrigue, one very innocent and impressionable person spoke up, unaware that this was not something to be addressed openly. Extending an index finger to point at the case of bagels she took a quick glance between the tempting morsels and the man. "We... can just take those?" There wasn't a sign or anything, outside of the tag with the numbers on it and a strange symbol she wasn't familiar with "$". Symbols could mean so many things, and they differed from species to species. It should also be noted that she wasn't used to needing sustenance either. At least not in this manner.

Spotted he experienced a moment of inner panic before he realized how gullible this girl was. I mean that question! No one who wasn't extremely gullible would have asked that question.

So naturally he lied!

"Of course, that is what they are there for. Little snacks for the guests."

A pause to see if she bought into that much of the story before he tried to dig into this lie a little deeper.

"You must be new? It surprises everyone at first. Why not take one of those sample baskets over there and meet me outside in the park? We can eat and I will tell you all about this place."

[A snide voice remarked. A moment later, Dark Mist floated closer, crossing his arms over his chest and scrutinizing this other creature that was now situated on the roof. Not in the habit of being seen nor heard himself, he didn't really expect a response]

If that is what passes for a nefarious act here, then corrupting the people of this world will be child's play.

What one didn't want to hear when one was trying to stuff down a stale and boring bagel was some strange voice mocking that same stale and boring bagel.

Crowley frowned and glanced quickly behind him.

"Think you can do better?"

Despite any lack of psychic powers, or seeming magic, or seeming anything unusual about the human girl -- except an extreme amount of timedust, void 'stuff' and a subtle hint that she'd been through hell itself; apparently more than once -- she starts singing for him, as if she knows exactly what he's looking for.

"It's a world of laughter, a world of fears!" she cheerfully bops her head along to the song.
"It's a world of hope, and a world of tears,
There's so much that we share,
That it's time we're aware--!" she doesn't finish though, just looks at him expectantly, like she thinks it'll come back to him and he'll know the next line.

Already in a cantankerous mood- catching Crowley's offhanded comment wasn't helping to alleviate that. At least the only response he offered up was a quirk of an eyebrow as he briefly scrutinized the stranger. Kaiba had fully intended not to engage this man in an unnecessary conversation, since he already had problems enough of his own without adding to them. How he both tired and loathed people trying to drag him into their humanitarian endeavors. That and when they tried to convince him of the existence of magic. Magic. Who were they trying to kid? It was insulting really and this place had already touched on both of his triggers. Let the Kingdom deal with it's corrosion problem on it's own, he had a business to run and a younger brother to watch over.

So no, he hadn't planned on even acknowledging the winged idiot but that was before Crowley just kept talking. That was when something within Kaiba snapped, and he came up with a sarcastic response. He was never really short on those.

"If I had to guess, I'd say it's for the same reason that you forgot to ditch that ridiculous costume."

The bakery might have looked empty but that was only because a certain blood-haired duelist was hunched over pressing his face and hands onto the outside of a glass display case. Joey's gaze was transfixed on the delicious looking delicacies, as the warm scents were driving him crazy. It would only be a matter of time before he lost his cool. Since he'd been drawn here the same as everyone else it's not like he'd had a chance to scrounge up any munny or any kindhearted friends that might tolerate a little mooching. Finally, he expelled a deep sigh and pushed himself away from the food that was taunting him on the other side of the case.

Then he growled, "Dis is ridiculous! How can I be expected ta do any'ting when I haven't even had a proper meal in hours." You didn't hear that wrong. Hours. He had a fairly high metabolism, and was a chow hound. That's probably why he could gorge himself on food but it never showed.

That was about the time he noticed Crowley with the pilfered baked good too. "Hey! ... You can't just take dat."

Not having expected to meet anyone else capable of flight, Astral trailed after the dark winged stranger once he left the shop.. When Crowley reached the roof, Astral hovered a few feet away from him. Although he had no need for consuming food himself, he had witnessed plenty of humans partaking so he didn't find it peculiar. Assuming that this guy was even human to begin with. He wasn't sensing anything different about the man, but the foreign energies here seemed to be conflicting with his usual powers. It was disconcerting.

For now he was just observing, since he had no reason to believe that this man could perceive him. That would be a peculiar phenomenon in itself considering that certain conditions had to be met first before it was possible.

Strangely Astral found himself staring at the bagel, basic though it was it had some sparked new interest for him. After a moment he started to feel strange, remarking on this fact out loud. "What..... is this feeling?

His face contorted into a frown as his concern made itself known. "It's.... an odd... gnawing sensation in the core of my being." Bagel now forgotten, he leaned forward and hovered one hand over his middle. "It won't go away....". Astral was actually feeling quite alarmed by this, and it was exacerbated by the fact that he had no one to turn to. "It feels like... hollowness....". His voice wavered a little as he inspected himself, but there was no distinguishable change. "Am.... I going to disappear?". Maybe because he was cut off from Yuma and the number cards, he was about to fade from existence. The possibility had always existed before. All it would have taken was for Yuma to lose a duel involving the aforementioned number cards.

Really? Did these werewolves have any idea who they were up against? A fiendish glint flashed in her eyes as she raised an arm aloft and towards the sky. At this point there were quite a few details she hadn't realized yet, that included that there was someone resting on the rooftop and ... well...

"O sea of clouds that covers heaven! Hear my voice! Know my will! I am Urd, greatest of the three Norns! And I call down the lightning!"

It was all very dramatic in the way she intoned her words and coupled it with her gestures, but there was that other thing she hadn't realized to contend with.

She was completely cut off from Yggdrasil and her powers. Urd just stood there for a moment, awaiting the fireworks but when none came, her face fell. The werewolves had apparently been expecting more too, as they did not immediately set upon her. Then the alpha snarled something that was incomprehensible to her but must have meant something to the others. They began circling again, readying themselves to go for the strike.

A sweatdrop rolled down her features, as her eyebrow began to twitch.

I hope it is okay poking you again, this late into things >.> But I really wanna test this kid.

Kohaku was confused. One moment Kohaku and the other has been listening to the Angel Masters tell them what punishment god had for the two Angels that had defied the rules and run away to earth for the sake of love and the next... Kohaku was here. In Cherubim form. Hearing someone talking about worms... in their ears. Kohaku turned, slow in the pudgy little chibi form to see who it was. Dark wings and an unknown voice. It looked like Heaven wasn't the only realm looking for wayward immortals. But Kohaku had bigger worries than who was coming for Kokuyo. In this form, Kohaku wasn't in fit shape to fight a devil! Even if fighting was the option Kohaku wanted. And it wasn't, the problem was... Kohaku's wings seemed to be gone.

The diminutive angel gave a gasp and stumbled back, falling flat on a little bubble butt. This was Gods' punishment for Kohaku? It was clearly day time but Kohaku was small and wingless? Being all but offered up to a Devil powerful enough to be in full form during the day? Big bright tears began to roll down chubby cheeks. Was it really so wrong to have gone to Earth? To love a human?
