i.Main Street

Main Street has settled in for January, but there are still Christmas Decorations here and there to liven things up a little bit. Feel free to shop, mingle with the locals or explore the castle grounds.

Though after hours there are still some shadows that venture into the streets. Not everything here is as peaceful as it seems, and it’s best to defeat the corroded trespassers before they cause trouble.

ii. Cookie Overload

Do you like free cookies? Of course! Everyone does. After the Christmas Rush, there are plenty to go around, available only after the sun goes down to any hungry passerby. There are cookies of all styles and flavors. But watch out for the dreader sriracha cookie. It will make you breathe fire in three flavors and gives a bit of heartburn after, but the aftertaste will leave you craving more.


iii. The Eighth Wonder of the World
Now that the jungle has been purified, Apprentices can wander through to explore all the things the jungle has to offer. Take a (still somewhat shambly) riverboat and explore the river, or come to chat and trade with the villagers. (Shrunken heads, two for one special!) But beware. Even though the jungle is purified, it’s not a safe place. In this kingdom of animals, someone is always hungry.


iv. Pin It On Them
Some smugglers are hanging around the outskirts of New Orleans, selling dubious looking items from even more dubious looking bags. Do you buy from them? Haggle? Steal? (not recommended) Or quietly try to alert any sort of authority (good luck) The choice is yours.


v. Battle Mesa Gate
While the jungle may be purified, many other Kingdoms are still seething with corrosion. Erstwhile Apprentices will find such corrosion on the banks of the Rivers of America, right where the jungle river joins in. Fight corroded creatures on the shore and in the water and be careful, they are stronger than they look and cleverer than they seem.

This place was so strange. Not only with all of these contraptions she didn't recognize in the least, but there were all sorts of people, and it was both putting her on edge and wondering if, by some chance, she'd run into someone familiar.

That wasn't what was happening there and then, though. She felt like something hard just collided with her and she barely had enough time to catch her balance before crashing into something else. Nehra that hurt... But whoever it was began apologizing immediately, helping to quell any immediate anger she might have felt with it. She just sighed, trying to shake it off.

"It is all right, I am just f-fine?" At first her response was normal, but when she actually got a look at the woman--

Oh Nehra she was tall. And kinda huge. And all of those red spikes. Were those claws? And a pointy tail?? Wait would the woman notice she was staring she needed to stop staring!!

"Fine. I... Am fine," Adela coughed then, trying to shake off her shock as well as just how tiny she felt next to this woman, "A-And you? Are you all right as well?"

She'd just... Pretend this was normal. Right. That would hopefully work. Even if she had literally never run into another person quite like this before and was having a lot of trouble processing it, this was definitely just fine wasn't it??

"Me? I'm totally fine," Scorpia said. "Having an exoskeleton comes in handy for things like this."

As Adela stared in disbelief though, Scorpia's expression grew concerned again. "Are you sure you're alright though? Because you're looking kind of dazed there. Did I hit you on the head? " Her tone grew a bit more alarmed as she continued. "I didn't accidentally sting you, did I? I'm sorry! It's just a reflex sometimes you know? I mean you're not knocked out, which I guess is good, but then I don't know if my venom works the same way here so I still might have, and I-"

You might want you interrupt there at some point, Adela. Once Scorpia gets on a roll of awkward fretting, it could go on for awhile if someone doesn't stop her.

"No, no, I promise you I am not hurt!" Gah, why was she fussing?! Adela started to feel flustered, shaking her head as she tried to get the other to just stop.

"You did not sting me, or hit my head, or-- wait, sting?"

She's fussing because she really wants the people here to like her and injuring random people in a shop tends to not make the best impression. Also because she's used to having to apologize for being clumsy or otherwise in the way, so overcompensating a bit out of caution until you know the rules is a thing.

"Sorry," Scorpia said one last time. "I'm just still getting used to... well, pretty much everything around here, so I don't..." She trailed off with a sigh, face-clawing. "Yeah, I'm just... gonna shut up now." Now that she'd effectively ruined any chance of making a good first impression with this person. Good job, Scorpia...

When the young woman asked about her stinging, she looked back at her mildly confused. "Well, yeah," she said. After a quick glance over her shoulder to make certain there was nothing and no one behind her, she briefly flexed her tail by way of demonstration. "Kind of goes with the whole 'scorpion' thing. Normally my venom can temporarily paralyze people and knock them out for a little while, but I don't know if it works the same way here."

"... I am not used to this place, either."

She sighed, rubbing the back of her neck as she looked away from Scorpia. She felt kind-of bad now, if only because this woman was apparently distressed where she didn't need to be. Adela knew she wasn't worth the fuss...

"I... I am more worried that I may have offended by staring. I have never seen a lot of the types of people here before, you being no exception to that. But I promise you that you have not wronged me in any way, all right?"

"You didn't offend me," Scorpia assured her. "I do kind of stick out around here; it's actually sort of weird for me that most everyone here is the same species. Or looks like it, anyway."

"I'm just glad I didn't hurt you; I've been really trying to make a good impression here, but it's.... not going so well." Main Street just wasn't built for people her size, especially ones with tails.

"Anyway... maybe we should just start over?", she asked. "So... hi; I'm Scorpia, and I'm from Etheria."

"Adela, and I used to live in the kingdom of Belcrest. It is good to meet you, Miss Scorpia."

She tried to smile, though her expression was shy and uncertain. Even if Ildis had told her she was just fine over and over, she still felt awkward when it came to new social interactions. Oddly enough though, it helped that Scorpia seemed almost as unfamiliar.

"I suppose this place is strange and new for both of us. I am still trying to see where everything is, here."

The fact that Adela seemed equally awkward in the situation was oddly comforting to Scorpia as well. It was nice to know that she wasn't alone in her situation.

Though she didn't know quite what to do with being called 'Miss'. "Heh... guess I am 'Miss' Scorpia now, huh?", she said. "Can't really call myself Force Captain any more. But you can just call me Scorpia. I kinda like that better anyway." It was what herfriends called her, after all. The few friends she had, anyway.

"But yeah, this place is definitely a lot different than the Fright Zone," Scorpia said. "Or most places on Etheria really. Everything is just so... nice, you know? I mean not that some parts of Etheria aren't nice, but this place is... a different kind of nice? I don't know; it's just hard to describe."
