i. Main Street USA: Daylight Hours
The citizens of Main Street greet the coming of fall in a big way! The entire main part of town is decorated in the colors of fall, carved pumpkins on every window ledge, balcony and stoop! Some are rather creative, ranging from The King himself to various spook-tacular versions. There are also plain pumpkins, squash and apples arranged in a rather decorative (and tasty) presentation outside the Opera House!
Enjoy yourselves as The Candy Palace begins to hand out small, caramel and spice covered apple slices. The smell of apple fritters, grilled apples and apple bacon float through the air. Enjoy the rather relaxed daylight hours...
ii.Main Street USA: After Dark
Because the moment the sun sets, and the lamps have been lit- the entire street takes on a strange and unsettling demeanor. The pumpkins glow a soft, red color and bats and black cats crawl around the shadowed corners. You might see several citizens wandering the streets-but look to hard and they will suddenly vanish before you can even greet them.
The stores are still open and the sweets and treats are still pouring; but! Beware of happy haunts~!
iii. Yo ho, yo ho a Pirates life for me!
Ah! Smell that salty, briny air! It gives life to all those who are from or love the sea!
Which would be wonderful and invigorating, if this was the bottom of the beautiful briny sea. It isn't. It's the open garden in front of the train station which is no being over run by some rather fishy, lv. 2 Corroded! Can you help sweep the proverbial beach clean without being washed away by water based attacks? The conductors would be most grateful if you could!
iv.Come out and Socialize!
No need to be number one thousand! Imagination is the real host here, so go on and use your to come up with your own adventure. Just remember to take loved ones by the hand, please, our ghosts are frightfully sensitive to too much mischief~
Beetlejuice | A walking (but not breathing) CW
Date: 2019-12-05 09:37 pm (UTC)The street's atmosphere actually suited the demon just fine. And normally he'd have had a blast messing with people.
But--since Beetlejuice had discovered he had no powers, the ghost with the most was sulking on a bench, managing to eat a churro sadly.
"This is it. I'm in hell. I'm actually in hell. And it's boring."

Date: 2019-12-06 01:46 am (UTC)She raised an eyebrow at the strange dude. "Nope. Been there, done that. This is definitely not it."

Date: 2019-12-06 02:04 am (UTC)no subject
Date: 2019-12-10 03:24 pm (UTC)"Yeah, okay. I can get behind that. I actually thought that when I first got here, too. Let me guess, you're the newest dead guy in town?"
how did I miss???
Date: 2019-12-26 06:22 pm (UTC)I don't knoooow /hugs
Date: 2019-12-30 02:42 am (UTC)"Summoning? Yeah you lost me there. And we do have powers, they're just probably different than whatever the hell you're used to."
*sob/fail
Date: 2019-12-30 12:28 pm (UTC)Different powers. That...was a slight improvement over being completely powerless, but, only slight.
Beeteljuice was used to having reality snap into whatever flittered into his mind. He suspected that he was going to be frustrated, like...a lot.

Date: 2020-01-04 02:27 am (UTC)She seemed unimpressed by the 'demon thing.'
"Dude. Hate to break it to ya but you're not the only demon around these parts. Last I checked I think we had like two and a half. And all of 'em had different 'demon thing's before they got here." She shrugged. "This place likes demons, dead people, and drama queens."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-04 02:31 am (UTC)Except, not really.
"The Netherworld is full of dead people. And...drama queens, t'be honest. Fewer demons, but, we're awesome."
OH HI MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME
Date: 2019-12-06 01:50 am (UTC)Maybe, she thought, if she kept her head down, she could just quietly walk by ... blend in ... look like any other citizen or Apprentice passing by.
Because goths didn't stand out in the pastel Wonderland of Main Street like a sore thumb.
Nope.
Especially not when someone was trying not to be bored.
:D
Date: 2019-12-06 02:03 am (UTC)Since faster methods of travel were apparently beyond him at the moment.
"Lydia!"
And have a glomping, spinning, hug, because of course that is just what you wanted from him. Obviously.
I'm guessing post musical? ;)
Date: 2019-12-06 05:05 am (UTC)"No, no, NO!"
A tiny green jewel in the choker on her throat flashed, and a rising tide of spiders poured up out of the gutters and any nearby pavement cracks, swarming up to cover his hands in an attempt to make him let her go.
"Let me GO or I swear I'll try summoning a sandworm! I bet I can do it!"
yes indeed, lol!
Date: 2019-12-06 11:41 am (UTC)If anything his smile grew wider and more manic, if yes, genuinely excited to see his hands covered in arachnids. "COOL. Lydia, when did you learn to do that?! How did you learn to do that?! And---"
Wait, did she say she'd summon a sandworm?
His brow furrowed and he crossed his arms, tapping a foot. "Now, that just seems like a bit of an overreaction on your part, Deetz."
no subject
Date: 2019-12-06 01:25 pm (UTC)He hadn't groped her. Wasn't leering. And ... his face. Had she just been gone for so long, or was something really different going on there? Could a ghost actually look younger? It was probably another ectoplasmic parlor trick, like all the others, but it still gave her pause. The bugs stuck around, but stopped biting.
She raised her head and squinted at him.
"What's the last thing I said to you in Winter River?"
no subject
Date: 2019-12-06 05:01 pm (UTC)He flicked a few spiders off, idly. Then he noticed he was being scrutinized, and he pulled a face. “Are you okay, kid?”

Date: 2019-12-06 08:42 pm (UTC)no subject
Date: 2019-12-06 09:00 pm (UTC)“I didn’t possess you. I blackmailed you.”
Because, that’s so much less offensive.
“Maybe you should tell me what you remember. Because, the last thing I remember is you telling me that I smell awful.”
no subject
Date: 2019-12-07 10:53 pm (UTC)A pause.
"Really, really desperate. You sent Maxie and Sarah through the ceiling, and turned Otho's suit into something that made him scream like a girl ... and the next thing I knew I had on this red wedding dress and you were fishing a dead woman's finger out of your pocket. And you put a metal plate over Barbara's mouth so she couldn't say your name ... and stuck Adam in his model ... and ..."
She watched him as he spoke. Something really wasn't right here. Something to do with time and space, something that skirted the edges of the quantum stuff The Doctor had been teaching her. He didn't look right. He was broader in the shoulders, rounder in the face. She was trying not to stare too hard, but ... she wanted to. She felt like she had to figure it out.
"How do you know me but really not remember any of this? I only talked to you twice. And when I talked to you in the attic, you were still living in Adam's model. You didn't blackmail me, we just played a really bad game of charades."
no subject
Date: 2019-12-07 11:42 pm (UTC)"Did you...actually jump off the roof after I left? Hit your head, maybe? Because, that's---Adam has a what?"
Beetlejuice shook his head, looking frustrated. "Let's back up." And now he did take her by the arm to pull her to the side, before releasing her again.
"Charades? Yes. You are amazing at charades." Big grin and a thumbs up. "Uh...but, we played that on the roof, and you summoned me to evict your dad, because the Maitlands are about as scary as a pair of bunny slippers, only not as effective."
Only talked twice. Only talked twice? "We've talked loads! We had the house to ourselves, except for the people who kept coming to the door and we chased off needing a change of pants. We had a blast...you seriously don't remember any of that?"
no subject
Date: 2019-12-08 12:30 am (UTC)She listened to him with an intent, puzzled frown. This ... didn't sound like the Beetlejuice she knew, at all. Or even, she realized, much like herself. "I don't," she admitted. "But ... tell me one more thing: why did I want my dad to leave?"
Charles Deetz was ... problematic, and emotionally stunted, and had horrible taste in second wives ... but she still loved her father, and had been at the point where she would have rather gotten rid of herself than him. "If there's anyone in the house I would have hated enough to summon you for myself, it would've been Delia... not Dad. Something's weird here."
no subject
Date: 2019-12-08 12:44 am (UTC)But, yeah, the roof. You had a suicide note that I incinerated. I mean, you were the only living person who'd been able to see me, and I wasn't going to let you throw that away. So, I offered to be your best friend! Even if you didn't want me to kill your dad. Or help you kill your dad. You were very against patricide."
The demon had to agree with her though. Something was weird.
"Okay, okay, so maybe one of us is remembering things wrong. Probably you. Because, my memory is flawless. Mostly."
no subject
Date: 2019-12-08 05:47 am (UTC)"But Beetlejuice," she said, shaking her head. "My mother isn't dead. She just... Left. This... I think ... Have you heard of the concept of quantum theory? I only just learned about it a couple months ago, but... I think there's more than one me. And more than one you... which is terrifying."
*spoilers for those lurking*
Date: 2019-12-08 01:30 pm (UTC)But, that being said, he did understand the concept.
"Okay, so. You don't have a dead mom. We apparently didn't bond quite as much...Adam and Babs sound as boring as ever..." The demon rocked back on his heels, trying to piece together differences.
"I'm guessing you still killed other-me with Delia's art? Did he feed his mom to a sandworm too?"
no subject
Date: 2019-12-08 11:07 pm (UTC)Her eyes widened more as she listened, her eyeliner only exaggerating the effect. If this Beetlejuice was from a quantum universe, there was a chance he was different in good ways. She tried to keep the things she was learning at the front of her mind: that everyone was here because they had something that would help, that it was a new start for everyone, that it wouldn't do anyone any good to judge each other. But most of all, that they needed to share what they knew. So as they kept talking, she kept walking, trusting that he'd follow her to her favorite Catching Up spot where they could sit and have a snack once they got there. (He'd forsaken a perfectly good churro, after all.)
"The other you turned into a giant snake and dropped Dad from the second floor landing. Then you tried to marry me to get out of... something you never explained. Because Barbara tamed a sandworm and rode it straight into the living room. You were the one who got eaten, no one got stabbed with Delia's art, and ... I never met your mom. Why, was she worse than you? That would explain a lot."
no subject
Date: 2019-12-08 11:40 pm (UTC)"BABS rode a sandworm?!"
To him, that was the most shocking piece of information gleaned. The only thing more shocking would have been hearing that Adam had done that instead.
"Whoa. Props to Barbara, then. That's exactly what I did. Because my mom was going to kill all of you."
With the differences in their experiences, Beetlejuice decided to be more forthcoming with information than usual.
"See, that exorcist thing was my doing. Well. Your doing. Because I lied. You agreed to marry me to make it stop, and save Babs. Then you jumped into hell to find your mom. Your dad went after you."
There was the slightest undercurrent of hurt in his tone with the whole jumping-into-hell-to-get-away thing. But, as quickly as it was there it was gone again as he continued.
"Did some torturing while you were gone, you came back with your dad, you agreed to marry me again, and you did, I got to be alive for about a minute, lost my mind a bit, you killed me--warranted, can't really lie--and you guys tried to banish me to the Netherworld."
The demon idly filled his pockets with the spiders still on his hands. "And that's when my mom came through the portal. She was kind of in charge of things and was pissed you had gone to and left the Netherworld. And, uh, wanted to kill you."
Beetlejuice looked up. "Okay, I tried to talk her out of it, but, she didn't want to listen to me and kicked me out, because she was quite a bit more powerful than yours truly, and had never been real fond of me either."
He flicked a spider at a man passing by.
"Anyway, I found the nearest sandworm and rode it back to your house and let it eat mom. Uh. The End."
