i. Main Street USA: Daylight Hours
The citizens of Main Street greet the coming of fall in a big way! The entire main part of town is decorated in the colors of fall, carved pumpkins on every window ledge, balcony and stoop! Some are rather creative, ranging from The King himself to various spook-tacular versions. There are also plain pumpkins, squash and apples arranged in a rather decorative (and tasty) presentation outside the Opera House!

Enjoy yourselves as The Candy Palace begins to hand out small, caramel and spice covered apple slices. The smell of apple fritters, grilled apples and apple bacon float through the air. Enjoy the rather relaxed daylight hours...

ii.Main Street USA: After Dark

Because the moment the sun sets, and the lamps have been lit- the entire street takes on a strange and unsettling demeanor. The pumpkins glow a soft, red color and bats and black cats crawl around the shadowed corners. You might see several citizens wandering the streets-but look to hard and they will suddenly vanish before you can even greet them.

The stores are still open and the sweets and treats are still pouring; but! Beware of happy haunts~!

iii. Yo ho, yo ho a Pirates life for me!

Ah! Smell that salty, briny air! It gives life to all those who are from or love the sea!

Which would be wonderful and invigorating, if this was the bottom of the beautiful briny sea. It isn't. It's the open garden in front of the train station which is no being over run by some rather fishy, lv. 2 Corroded! Can you help sweep the proverbial beach clean without being washed away by water based attacks? The conductors would be most grateful if you could!

iv.Come out and Socialize!

No need to be number one thousand! Imagination is the real host here, so go on and use your to come up with your own adventure. Just remember to take loved ones by the hand, please, our ghosts are frightfully sensitive to too much mischief~

ii.Main Street USA: After Dark

This world had been frightening enough during the day time but at night it was positively spooky! The diminutive mouse had slipped out of her hiding spot to bounce hesitantly down the sidewalk. Hiding had seemed like the best idea initially but she did have to find her way home. Mrs. Brisby didn't even make it down one square of sidewalk before the loud footfalls of an approaching giant sent her scurrying right into the nearest lit jack o'lantern.

iv.Come out and Socialize!

"Aaa!"

Mrs. Brisby gasped as the predatory bird slammed into the stack of the new, 'Halloween Cooking and Craft' magazines sending them chasing after the fleeing mouse as quickly as Indiana Jones ran from that boulder.

"Hawk!"

She yelled in warning as she ran from the great beast but really only she was in danger surely...

"What in Ra's name...?!" Atem exclaimed as he looked towards the chaos of magazines careening in every which direction. It didn't take long to spot the source of the disturbance, a large bird, but he missed seeing the mouse currently fleeing for her life. Instinctively, he moved to shoo the bird away to prevent any further damage to the shop he had been perusing.

"Why would it even be doing this...?"

Defiantly the bird resisted Atem's effort at first, trying to make another dive for the rodent. Not wishing to get a sample of what it's talons could do for himself, Atem flipped his cape over the creature. It fell to the ground, tangled horribly in the material. By the time it got itself free, it was so disgusted by the whole situation that it took to the air and fled the scene.

"The idea...." With a shake of the head, Atem kneeled down to start scooping up the magazines.

By the time the very brave human had wrestled that nasty bird out of the newspaper stand Mrs. Brisby had hidden herself behind the gumball display. She peered through the glass at him, the size of her eyes doubling with the distortion of the glass, as she watched him picking up all those leafy papers. She had been told humans could understand her now but she still felt shy at the first meeting with one.

"He--"

The voice was too soft and she swallowed hard as if that might help her find her courage.

"Hello? Th-- Thank you for the help, with the hawk."

Could he even hear her or was she still speaking too softly? She tried to speak up even more.

"It was very kind."

Focused on the craft books, he didn't notice the large distorted pair of eyes staring at him, until he looked up to place the items back on their stand. He jumped a little, dropping a few of the compilations. Chiding himself under his breath, he placed the remaining items safely back in place. Then he gave the creature his full attention. Her voice was soft and it wasn't easy to pick up what she was saying at first. She was the only mouse he'd ever seen with similar fashion sense to his own however.

I mean, he just didn't seem to be able to dress himself without including a cape or a jacket that could be slung over the shoulders like one. A pity they had fallen from fashion.

"Oh- uh.. yes... the hawk. It must have been aiming for you then." Unlike her, his voice was clear and authoritative despite his being caught off guard.

"I don't know about how kind it was- since I wasn't even aware that you were here but now that I am... I'm glad to have been of some assistance." This was still a little bizarre. Sure he had spoken to other creatures here, but they were decidedly taller.

This human hadn't known she was there? She made a little face just a look of puzzlement as she wondered to herself why a human would have fought a hawk if he really didn't need to but then just as quickly decided this stand must be his. After all he was taking very good care of it. Mrs. Brisby moved around the jar of gumballs, briefly being lost from sight as she passed by an enormous red gumdrop, until she finally made her way out into the open. There were still places she could dart to if she needed to but they could talk better this way.

"Well, I'm still grateful. I had been told there were corrupted creatures here but no one thought to mention there were still hawks as well."

Atem felt guilty for the oversight, but she was quite small and it hadn't been intentional. Also, she had read the situation incorrectly but since she didn't voice it he was unable to correct her. No, he'd just noticed that the aforementioned hawk was making a mess of things and decided to help out the real owner by scaring it off. Losing sight of the mouse, he waited bit longer to see if she would reappear, which she did.

"I was a bit surprised by the hawk myself," Not that it likely would have done him much harm but hawks tended to avoid heavily populated areas.

"So... that must mean that you arrived here through the mirror as well?" To be given the speech she eluded to. Did they really expect someone of her diminutive stature to aide in this endeavor? Heh- well... maybe he shouldn't be the one to underestimate someone based on their size.

She nodded once, holding her paws together as she hesitantly walked closer on her hindlegs.

"Yesterday. I... I think they were as surprised as I was! I'm not sure Dreamfinder was really expecting a field mouse."

But at least Hades hadn't toasted her. Thank goodness for small favors.

"This is," She paused, wondering if this would be seen as too rude but then decided it wouldn't be if she phrased it differently than she had been about to. "Where I am from the farmer and his family can't really speak to mice so this is... all very new and strange. It must feel that way to you too?"

It wasn't hard to see how nervous she was, and why shouldn't she be after evading a hawk and addressing someone which to her was a giant. Atem stayed kneeling after he had picked up all the miscellaneous papers so he could appear a little less threatening than he might otherwise be at full height.

"I can only imagine." Trying to picture it in his own mind.

"Yes- to an extent it is a bit bizarre." Then he swiftly tacked on,".. but I'm beginning to get used to such things here." No it wasn't rude at all, and she actually seemed rather charming for field mouse. "I suppose we had better introduce ourselves." That seemed like a normal starting point. "I'm Atem, and is there a name you go by .... Miss?" The miss was a bit of an after thought since he was actually at a loss for etiquette in this scenario.

"Mrs. actually."

Even if her dear Johnathan was no longer around going back to being a 'miss' just didn't feel right.

"I'm Mrs. Brisby. It's very nice to meet you Atem."

A shadow passed over the pair of them as the hawk flew by high overhead. Instinctively Brisby ducked and watched the bird with cautious eyes.

"That hawk is very persistent..."

"Oh, I beg your pardon then."

Smiling a bit as he made his apologies. Clearly, he shouldn't have assumed she was single. How presumptuous.

"It's nice to meet you as well Mrs. Brisby."

So mice apparently do have distinct names for themselves. Well, if ducks did- why not everything else. When she ducked lower, he instinctively stood up, and peered up into the heavens. Sure enough the bird was still looming above them just waiting for an opportunity. Perhaps it was not able to find sustenance in the surrounding lands due to the corruption.

"I see what you mean." Agreeing with her, wasn't helping her with her situation. "Where was it you were headed Mrs. Brisby? If I might be permitted to accompany you, I could make sure you're able to arrive there safely."

"I was trying to head back to that large building we are all staying at, the..."

This word was unfamiliar to her and she stumbled over it briefly in her efforts to recall it.

"Ap... apt-- Apartment building. I thought it might be safer inside with darkness falling. I would appreciate the escort."

The hawk scream which sent Mrs. Brisby scurrying off to dive under the nearest rack of magazines. She couldn't be attacked from above here!

"You should be careful! If that hawk is hungry enough to still fly around even with you here it might just be desperate enough to attack you."

It was doubtful that such a small hawk could kill such a large human but those claws and sharp beak could certainly do some damage to one.

Atem was patient as she sought out the right word. "It might be indeed." As far as he knew there had never been any altercations at the apartments before. He nodded, pleased that she felt comfortable accepting his offer. The hawk once again interrupted their conversation, apparently it just wasn't getting the hint.

"It's a pity..." He commented offhandedly, looking back to the bird. Hawks were such noble creatures, capable of being trained into being decent hunting companions under the right conditions- but this one must be starved. "... Er... that it hasn't moved on... I mean." Not that it didn't find it's meal here, which it wanted Mrs. Brisby to be. He had best hold off any admiration for the beast that was often seen as sacred in his land.

He chuckled a little at her warning. "I'm not worried about that.... but something will have to be done about him."

In a case of famous last words, the hawk did engage in the bold move of dive bombing the object of it's frustration. Apparently it thought if it could convince the human to vacate then it could resume it's hunt. In an undignified yelp, the pharaoh ducked out of the way. "Stay out of sight!" He ended up having to roll out of the hawk's way for it's next aerial stunt, it's loud screeching was offensive to the ears. Then he reached for his Khopesh. Honestly, he didn't wish to injure the non-corrupted bird but it could not be allowed to harass any of the apprentices. Thinking quickly, he tried to come up with a new way to manipulate his powers.

Atem didn't have to tell her twice to stay out of sight. She was well aware she was no match for the frantic bird but as she watched from the relative safety of the magazine racks in which she had hidden herself something just didn't seem right about the hawk. It must have been starved... but it wasn't! It was lean and fit, its talons and beak sharp... no, there was something else!

"Atem!"

She called out in the loudest mousy voice she could manage.

"It's not a normal hawk at all!'

She hoped that the human had heard but paled into a silent scream when the hawk kited around to look directly at her. It's talons grew two sizes and its body elongated as it landed on the ground, transforming instantly into a giant hawk-like slender man as it charged the paper stand.

Mrs. Brisby's senses about self-preservation were to be commended- but also the fact that she spoke up when she realized that something was amiss was courageous. Especially since that act would inform the crazed beast as to her location in case it's keen vision had missed it.

"It's not?" He questioned as he tried to look at the bird more objectively.

When the grotesque transformation took place, he was aghast. Somehow this monster had penetrated deep into the heart of Main Street without any opposition and now it was a very real and immediate danger. At least that freed up any guilt he might have felt regarding how to approach the situation.

"No you don't!"

Swinging the weapon in a swift arc, a wave of purple-tinted energy careened forward leaving the blade and circling around the malformed creature to either side. When the ends met they formed a barrier between predator and prey. It was essential to do this first in order to protect the news stand from further attacks. It also had the added benefit from preventing the mouse from having to witness what followed. Using the blunt end of the Khopesh he struck the villain. The force was enough to knock it to the ground, so then all he had to do was kneel down and drive the sword into it's flesh.

In a way she was grateful not to have to witness the creature's end but in another she really couldn't see what was happening to her new friend. It was madness but she scurried out of hiding, climbing over the racks and over the magazines that crinkled with papery noise and she passed.

"Atem?"

Not close enough yet she made for the railing and parkoured her way to the ground. Her paw was held up to the shield but she didn't quite touch it. Magic could be a very powerful thing.

Loud footfalls?! Excuse you. The description might have seemed a little insulting if Hel had been informed of it on two counts. For one, if she had not been relieved of her usual abilities she would never have been walking in the first place. She much preferred levitating, it was so much more efficient and didn't require contact with whatever surface one might end up traversing. Secondly, she wouldn't have anyone equating her foot falls to a large behemoth Mrs Brisby likely wouldn't have used that terminology at all...but ir would have been perceived as such. The sour mood she was in was likely a contributing factor to her negativity. Ragnarok had been temporarily prevented but with the awakening of the legendary elemental dragons and the Catalysts the realms were still very much in danger.

Hel needed to return home to aide in strengthening the seals on the aforementioned troublemakers so that the whole process would not begin anew.

Catching the motion her eyes darted to the pumpkin. "If you're trying to hide then you've picked what is arguable the worst location." The light flickered and cast mouse-shaped shadows as the creature passed before it.

At least the large mouse shaped shadows might frighten off all but the most battle hardened and brave of people, no? She looked to the candle and then over to the huge shadow she was casting on the wall opposite and breathed a sigh before she ducked her way back out of the Jack-o'-lantern.

"I guess it's not the most subtle of hiding places."

She chuckled a little as she straightened up her stance.

"But I did think most humans would step around a pumpkin."

They might, but Hel was no stranger to battles involving large creatures. A mouse, even a large one as the shadow would have implied wouldn't have been able to hold a candle to the beasts she was familiar with. Pausing a moment, she eyed the rodent with curiosity. Although the form was too small to be a Therian, it still wore a scrap of clothing. Peculiar.

"...."

She saw no reason to respond to the obvious, it would have wasted both their times. Also- she was used to conversing with her helhound, Garm, but not any other woodland creatures. That gave her more pause.

".................................................... I don't see any humans here." Quirking up an eyebrow she dared the mouse to argue with that statement.

Their solitude was likely to change at any moment, but yes, for the time it was just the pair of them.

Hades was another issue entirely, and it made her nose wrinkle just to think of him. Yes- she understood the concept that there were different dimensions out there but she also didn't like the idea of anyone else assuming her title or responsibilities that was not in fact her.

"I wouldn't equate myself with them, either....." This mouse wasn't making this explanation easy at all. "....... I guess you wouldn't have much occasion to seek out the divine." Then after another thoughtful pause. "In my dimension I oversee the land of the dead... and you can be certain that I wouldn't have allowed my realm to become so overrun by this corruption."

Noting the mouses's unease, Hel was momentarily confused by it. Then she grimaced- it wasn't as if she'd never inspired this sort of reaction before.

"If I was here to take your life, then I wouldn't waste my breath talking."

With a shake of her head, her pigtails swung in accordance. Part of her was ready to be done with this conversation. Apparently that assumption was somehow offensive. Hel saw to the needs of the dead after they passed on, she didn't push the process forward.
