i. Main Street USA: Daylight Hours
The citizens of Main Street greet the coming of fall in a big way! The entire main part of town is decorated in the colors of fall, carved pumpkins on every window ledge, balcony and stoop! Some are rather creative, ranging from The King himself to various spook-tacular versions. There are also plain pumpkins, squash and apples arranged in a rather decorative (and tasty) presentation outside the Opera House!
Enjoy yourselves as The Candy Palace begins to hand out small, caramel and spice covered apple slices. The smell of apple fritters, grilled apples and apple bacon float through the air. Enjoy the rather relaxed daylight hours...
ii.Main Street USA: After Dark
Because the moment the sun sets, and the lamps have been lit- the entire street takes on a strange and unsettling demeanor. The pumpkins glow a soft, red color and bats and black cats crawl around the shadowed corners. You might see several citizens wandering the streets-but look to hard and they will suddenly vanish before you can even greet them.
The stores are still open and the sweets and treats are still pouring; but! Beware of happy haunts~!
iii. Yo ho, yo ho a Pirates life for me!
Ah! Smell that salty, briny air! It gives life to all those who are from or love the sea!
Which would be wonderful and invigorating, if this was the bottom of the beautiful briny sea. It isn't. It's the open garden in front of the train station which is no being over run by some rather fishy, lv. 2 Corroded! Can you help sweep the proverbial beach clean without being washed away by water based attacks? The conductors would be most grateful if you could!
iv.Come out and Socialize!
No need to be number one thousand! Imagination is the real host here, so go on and use your to come up with your own adventure. Just remember to take loved ones by the hand, please, our ghosts are frightfully sensitive to too much mischief~

Date: 2019-09-25 03:24 am (UTC)Kaiba has a thousand thoughts he can't process quickly enough. He'd dreamed of just chasing him into that golden afterlife, but this husk of a park was an entirely different story. He takes another hesitant step forward, putting them at polite conversation distance.
Yes, polite conversation. He's so out of his element that he's managing that much. But he's slowly starting to feel a little more like himself, and the hollow laughter comes out.
"Should've been one of your pep squad, huh? They're into the whole hero thing. I'm guessing you are too."

Date: 2019-09-25 05:33 pm (UTC)Other than magic, which he assumed Kaiba might still find insufficient as an answer. The forces at work here must be powerful if the mirror was capable of drawing from both the living and the deceased. Admittedly, Atem wasn't dedicating his thoughts towards solving this mystery currently. It was enough just dealing with the present and the unlikelihood that this was really transpiring. He'd been worried about what might have happened to Kaiba after he heeded the call of the pull of this world, it was a relief seeing him looking so well. Bewildered, perhaps but no worse for wear.
It was also probably a good thing that Kaiba hadn't voiced his thoughts about this "park"- because while in some ways you could see the resemblance to one with the carefully planned layout, it was not actually an amusement park at all. The residents might not have approved of the comparison, this was their home they were struggling to maintain.
"I had better be, considering that's the class I was sorted into," Said primarily in jest as his lips quirked upwards. ".... You shouldn't go selling yourself short Kaiba. I know your involvement in some other altruistic endeavors was often done under protest but your contributions were no less valuable. You had your own role to play."

Date: 2019-09-27 02:01 am (UTC)Kaiba casts another glance at the sole street, the lights dancing in the distance and people hurrying by. The scenery didn't hold his attention for long, of course: soon he turned back to the man he never thought he'd see again.
What did he do now? He couldn't call for a duel with his beloved deck missing, and he hadn't purchased a weapon for sparring yet. Even if he had, Atem likely had several months' head start, and he'd have to throw himself into working overtime to have any hope of catching up. This was an awkward iterim---it was so rare they interacted outside the field of battle.
And Atem's words reminded him of exactly why it had been so uncommon. He snorted.
"Who said I ever wanted to be a hero? I have my priorities and I defend them, that's all. Mokuba, the company...I can't do anything about either from here."
And he was miserable about missing both those things. He sighed, meeting Atem's gaze once more.
"But I can make sure you don't get away from me again."

Date: 2019-10-07 09:32 pm (UTC)The conversation ebbed briefly as they tend to do and the two were left puzzling over how to fill the silence. Although Kaiba only glanced away for a short span of time it allowed Atem to run his eyes over the others features. It was remarkable how the brunette had changed after the pharaoh's abrupt departure. Atem hadn't been able to fully appreciate it before. Sure- Kaiba had always been.... well... easy to look at, but somehow he seemed even more fit and conditioned. The only sign of negative wear stemmed from his controlled expressions. Maybe he was reading too much into it, but Atem thought for sure he could catch sparks of unspoken pain and regret in those striking blue eyes.
When Kaiba did look back, the visual examination came to a swift close. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, Atem cupped his chin with one hand and looked down the street as if he had been the whole time.
"... but surely once you have all the facts, you'll be able to see a correlation between your goals and mine." Dropping his hand back to his side, he looked back up to Kaiba. It was tempting to go off on one of his tangents, and try to secure the others assistance in these matters but what was said next made the words catch in his throat.
An uncanny and unexpected heat threatened to overtake him. The fact that Kaiba had made eye contact to deliver this line as well was oddly intimidating in itself, and Atem wasn't one to be easily intimidated. "Ha- well.... I guess we'll see about that."

Date: 2019-10-08 09:53 am (UTC)His face colored just slightly when he realized the gravity of what he'd said. But he wouldn't back down from it---it was the truth.
"If there's one bright spot in this nightmare...it's that I'll finally settle the score with you. No more slipping away. And if that means I have to endure this magical nonsense...well, that's the price."

Date: 2019-10-08 05:40 pm (UTC)... but then he had said that, and it was hard not to read more into it than it just referring to settling old scores.
"Won't that be difficult without any duel monsters cards?" Not to be argumentative or anything, but Atem certainly had no access to his monsters either in paper form or large stone tablet.
