I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.
But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.
II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.
III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!
IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

Some of it had been restored with loving care to its former glory, but most of the cobblestones and fence were still worn, faded, and cracked: a clear work in progress.
"They have training sessions where you can practice.... and even then, nothing really clicked for me until we were out there doing something real. Then again, my friend Mal came from a place that already had magic, so she had a head start, and she's pretty great at it. So it's all very relative."

Or something, indeed.

Date: 2019-08-28 02:30 am (UTC)It was strange, normally he had no problem sharing the whole not-human thing, but recent events had made him wonder just how proud he should be of what he was. The moon cycle made it difficult enough, anyway, and that'd be one way the new duck would find out, if nothing else. If he mentioned he was a Monster, he'd probably have to explain, besides, and he was supposed to be helping, not talking about himself.
"But no one told me my element, so I figured I was probably fire, for a few reasons. I was pretty surprised when I realized it was air. The first time I did anything, I wasn't even thinking about it." They drew closer to the gardens, and he pointed to the spot where he'd been practicing when it happened. "Hades sent some creatures after us to practice defense, and one of them went after Rose, and another friend of mine, Fenton ... and I didn't even think, I just put my hands up like it would stop them, and this air barrier went up between them and the creature. Not that it lasted long, but - it came from my heart. From what I wanted to do. Not because I was trying anything specific. So, maybe - Fethry - the key is not to try it so much as to feel it?"
