I. Main Street Usa!

It's twilight, edging to evening, and yet the streets are still alive with citizens and Apprentices (that means you!) alike. Take the time to admire the lights, pop in and out of the cafes or just relax in the garden.

Weapon shops and magic shops are open late into the evening this time of year, so feel free to enjoy yourself before you equip yourself for the life head.

II. Apprentice Training 101- Evening Class

Same commons behind the fire house, same weapons and wands available for practicing your skills-- though this time under the cozy street lights and the bright blues and tired purples of a fading summer twilight. Strike at the training dummy or try to catch fireflies with whispers, its all up to you.

III. Things that Go Bump

Are bumping. And they mean business. A few level 1 corroded monsters are scurrying around Main Street causing havoc and it's up to you to stop them. The question is, is it early in the evening or do you dare to face the creatures at the night's darkest hour?

IV. It's time to Sparkle!

Everyone has a spark of imagination. That is, in fact, why you're here! It's time to shine with your own scenario! Just try to keep from causing too much trouble.

Sadly, he was used to people walking into him like that. though usually they were fully dressed. "No problem," Grey said, kindly. "Are you okay?"

Ace will forever argue he is dressed just fine, thank you.

"Uh, yes, of course?" Dude, he's been thrown through dozens of brick walls in one go, you are not even a dent. Ace mentally went through every ounce of his rehearsed manners training from Makino, and failed at finding an appropriate response. "Are you?" Was that the right question? Because Ace had muscles to spar ogres and dragons with, really. Not that he was made of diamond -- that was another brother of his.

And since it couldn't get much more awkward than standing around in the middle of the street being baffled, Ace bows again. "I'm Ace, Portgas D. Ace. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr...?"

He gave a small smile and nodded. "I am, thank you. It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ace. I am Grey Murphy, but you are free to just call me Grey, if you like."

"Will do, Grey! Are you a native to this place?" You'd think Ace would stop and have more conversations with natives, but no, not really. Part of it is Ace's fault though, he's not interested in putting on a shirt to go anywhere that requires them.

He shook his head. "And I am guessing from the question neither are you. Depending how you count it, this my third world, fourth world, or if you count the moons, I've lost count." He chuckled.

"What?"

Ace had never talked to Rose Tyler so. Yeah. World travelers. New to him. He only knew dead people and demons.

"Uh, yeah, this is just my second, I guess? I think Lydia said she'd seen the world of the dead, I'm not sure that really counts though. And Hell wasn't like... another world, it was in my birth-world so...."

He nodded a bit. "I was born in Mundania, which most people call Earth, then moved to Xanth, but we had to go through the Night Stallion's realm first. And then there are the moons that orbit my Fianceé's sister's head. It... sounds a lot weirder when I say it out loud, come to think of it..."

And then a chuckle, "Does it really sound less weird in your head?" Most of the stuff Ace says sounds crazy even in his own head, to be fair. "Yeah, sorry, I don't know any of that. I come from a world with Four Blues and a Grand Line. Haven't met anyone else from there yet, but that's okay. Most people don't say a lot that makes sense to me, I'm getting used to it."

"Yes, actually," he said with a chuckle. "Trust me, I've said odder. Never heard of four blues and a grand line, and sadly I don't have the book with me to research it, but I'd be happy to listen if you wanted to talk about it."

"The book?" Ace waved a hand, "Nah, it's boring." To Ace, it honestly was.

"Do you need help getting situated or whatever here? Merlin and Hades are kind of bad at the welcoming committee thing, and Pain and Panic are even worse."

"Ask away," Ace gestured grandly. "And assume I have no knowledge of what things are like where you're from. Do you have magic? Monsters? Fairies? Princes? Dragons?"

He chuckled. "Thank you. In the land where I was born, none of the above. In Xanth, where I live now? All of the above. Let's see, in Xanth every adult human has a magical talent. The world itself is magic. All manner of monsters, some nicer than others. Fairies... I'm actually not sure about though. I am sort of a prince on two half technicalities, and my Fianceé's best friend is a dragon. Well one of them. Let's see there are Stanley Steamer and Hugo from when she was a child, and the more recently Nada Naga and Electra."

"Okay," Ace nodded, pretending he totally understood it. And he did get... most of it he thought. Some of it. Enough of it anyway.

"So everyone gets magic here, but it's not really like what you had before. I had a fire devil fruit before, which meant I could turn into and generate fire, and I could be the only one in my whole world who could do that so long as I was alive." Ace didn't know that was similar to the talents thing. "Here anyone can do fire, they're just not as likely to resort to it. Every person is a different class, which is a weird word for it, and I don't get why they chose it, but fairy, mystic, monster, uh... princess, toy," Ace scrunched his face in thought and shrugged, "Hero, warrior, those are all classes. You have to ask Merlin for what class you are. Hero and Warriors use weapons, Mystics have wands, Princesses have uh... jewelry, and monsters and fairies have elements like fire. I'm a fire monster. And the full moon strengthens us, and new moon makes unconscious. It's annoying."

"I can see how it could be annoying, yes," he said, managing not to laugh.

"And the classes decide the kind of magic you can do. Monsters can do Energy, gross, and strong! It's fun! I don't really get why they call it gross though, I mean yeah, people don't like bugs, but Lydia's a princess and talks to them, so why's it gross for monsters, but delicate for princesses?"

He laughed. "That sort of makes no sense double standard seems to be par for any course, my friend."

"I see," Ace nodded sagely.

"Oh, and some people get jobs, but they're all stupid and require shirts." He glanced Grey over, "You might be fine." That's not an insult. "But the missions in the jungle are more fun, even if the corroded are all giant losers who won't come out and fight. So it's like 'Oh fix up the temple! But wait! You also must hunt corroded!' and then they run away like losers so you can't do both, it's really annoying. Even if the jungle is nice. Reminds me of home."

"Lots of jungle? I'm more of an ocean man. Pirate by trade. Just grew up hunting giant monsters in Goa's jungle," wry grin. "My favorite island was Wano, but it was all polluted by the jackass dragon emperor that ran it to the ground."

"Lots of humans and part humans who don't believe in shirts," he said with humour. The problem with the oceans in Xanth really are the sea monsters more than anything. But overland can be just as dangerous."

Ace laughed. People were way too obsessed with clothes.

"Oh! My world has tons of sea monsters! Krakens, seakings, you name it! My brother even befriended an island whale! And supposedly there's a few ancient animals like Zou, which is a giant elephant or a giant sea turtle that have whole islands on their backs!"

He is not kidding about the giant thing either. Xanth giants might go invisible, but in Ace's world, they were easily 300 feet tall and counting. It got bigger from there.
