There were some immediate benefits to being drawn to a land where one was not so well known. That being said Atem still missed the- at times... overprotective priests whom he also considered to be among his friends. If they had followed him here they could have also aided in driving back the corruption being a dedicated and resourceful group, though they might not have approved of all of Atem's choices. Some of the others had been reluctant to reveal their adventures in time initially as well but apparently they had looser lips than Ciri.
It wasn't so much that he took it as an insult as he was more concerned for her own safety. If she didn't take what he was saying to heart then she could fall prey to the spirits and creatures herself, or endanger others. Her apology coupled with calling herself a cynic seemed to get him to relax a little. "I have had some experience was cynics. Less so here..." but it wasn't hard to tell that whomever he was thinking of was someone he liked in spite of how difficult they could be. "It is a lot to accept all at once."
