I. Main Street Usa!

It's twilight, edging to evening, and yet the streets are still alive with citizens and Apprentices (that means you!) alike. Take the time to admire the lights, pop in and out of the cafes or just relax in the garden.

Weapon shops and magic shops are open late into the evening this time of year, so feel free to enjoy yourself before you equip yourself for the life head.


II. Apprentice Training 101- Evening Class

Same commons behind the fire house, same weapons and wands available for practicing your skills-- though this time under the cozy street lights and the bright blues and tired purples of a fading summer twilight. Strike at the training dummy or try to catch fireflies with whispers, its all up to you.


III. Things that Go Bump

Are bumping. And they mean business. A few level 1 corroded monsters are scurrying around Main Street causing havoc and it's up to you to stop them. The question is, is it early in the evening or do you dare to face the creatures at the night's darkest hour?


IV. It's time to Sparkle!

Everyone has a spark of imagination. That is, in fact, why you're here! It's time to shine with your own scenario! Just try to keep from causing too much trouble.

I. Main Street USA
Rose wonder about main street, cheeking out the shops and cafes. The place certainly has a festive atmosphere with the bustling people and lights. It reminds her of the busy market towns back in her home world.

She goes into one of the weapons shops to check to see what kind of swords they have. The wands are handy but she feels naked without a sword. She picks up a saber and checks the balance of it, to see if it will suit her needs.

Later, Rose goes to the garden to escape some of the crowds and for a bit of solitude.

II. Apprentice Training 101
Though Rose is quite skilled in combat, especially when it comes to using a sword. But using magic without her Dragoon Spirit and with a wand instead is completely new to her. So she is using the wand to strike at one of the dumbs from a distance. Her aim isn't exactly perfect, but she improves.

III. Things that Go Bump
When the monsters start to appear, Rose starts to feel more at home. Fighting such things is normal for her. She raises her sword into a guard position, waiting to see what the creatures will do.

Solitude is a hard thing to get around here, funnily enough.

Ace gives no warning before ambushing the swordswoman with a giant axe.

So much for peace and quiet! Rose barely gets her sword up in time to block the crazed axe man.

"What in Soa's name is wrong with you!?"

She brings a foot up to kick him in the gut in order to push him back.

"Nice block," a feral grin. He'd had enough control on the weapon to stop short if she disappointed like everyone else and just screamed or ducked, but he was thrilled to be pleasantly surprised. "Maybe you won't be useless in class like everyone else." He included himself in that ever since he fell asleep after trying to show Crowley how to regenerate using fire, and failed massively with them both getting overrun by monsters.

"This was your idea of a test?" What is with this man? She doesn't lower her sword in case he tries to attack her again. With that feral grin of his, that was a very likely possibility.

"Is that how you greet every new arrival here?

[ace_of_hearts]

"Nope, just saying hello. And you're special. The others didn't have enough sense to pick up a weapon first thing. And my roommate only got attacked after he threatened to kill my child self...." awkward pause, and he actually stops and rubs the back of his head in thought, "It's a long story."

He's not sure about bowing yet though so...

"I'm Ace. Portgas D. Ace. Welcome to the Magic Kingdoms." Now he bows. He figures if she uses that as an opportunity to attack him, then he gets the answer about what kind of person she is even easier than him attacking her.

Rose arches a brow. "That was your idea of a greeting?" This man just gets stranger and strangers. "I have been a warrior for most of my life. So of course I am going to defend myself when I am attacked."

She isn't even going to ask about his roommate situation.

When he bows she still keeps her guard up, but doesn't attack him. This man isn't exactly predictable. "Ace, huh? I am Rose."

"Sweet. Nice to meet you Rose. Did anyone give you the rundown?"

He'd assumed so from the weapon, but then if she was a warrior her whole life like him, she probably just had better instincts for survival than the others.

In the garden there is a man with glorious white wings sleeping at a table surrounded by a pile of thick books and a very cold cup of tea. The stack is a bit chaotically balanced however and looks like it might fall over on him at any moment.

It is hard to miss the man surrounded by books. His wings make him stand out quite a bit. But they are definitely not the wings of a Wingly, so Rose is a bit curious to know what he is.

As she approaches she calls out, not wanting to disturb him. "Excuse me, are you alright?" Is it normal for people to fall asleep in the garden?

"Mmm?" He shifts and the sudden movement sends the books crashing down. He yelps and then rises a little, blinking at her in the soft light of the nearby street lamp.

"Er... do I know you?"

Rose cringes as the books crash down on top of him. "Sorry about that." That looked like it hurt and she was trying not to startle him so.

"No, you do not know me. I was just checking to see if you were alright."

"Oh...that's too bad..." He peers at her. "I don't suppose they've given you any sort of magical name tag?"

"No, but you could just ask me for my name." What a strange man. "I am Rose."

She might find a rather bland looking man sitting in the garden, facing one of the more extraordinary flowers, and focusing intently on it. To no apparent effect.

She almost missed the man as she was walking by since he seemed quite plain. Really, she noticed the flower first before noticing him and how he seems to be staring at it. "Are you alright?"

He glanced up, then nodded with a small smile. "Yes, thank you. Just trying an experiment." He stood and offered a hand. "Grey."

To her, Grey sounded like a fitting name to this man, and she didn't know why. She took his hand and shook it. "I am Rose."

She turns back to the flower. "What kind of experiment are you doing that requires you to stare at a flower like that?"

He shook hands as well. "My magic is a bit odd, back home. I know they said our magic from home wouldn't work here, but... I'm from a small group that tend to be the exceptions to the rules that apply to magic. So I was seeing if I could affect this clearly magical flower. Either I cannot, or the flower isn't actually magical. Either way I'm mostly just an idiot sitting on the grass staring at a flower," he said with a grin at his own expense.

Well that made sense. it would be natural for those who had magic in their home world to try it here, regardless of what they had been told.

"Humans can use magic where your are from?"

"Wow!" the ten year old blond princess with a vague-ish green tint says enthusiastically. Rose might not think it's much, but clearly Ivy is way more enthused. "You're good at that!!!"

Rose blinks a little before looking over to the girl. She didn't expect to have an audience. "Thank you, I suppose. Though I am better with using a sword."

[enhancomancer]

"REALLY?" the princess begs, a little too enthusiastically. "Can I see? My Daddy uses swords, and they always talk back to him, but I've never met a woman swordsman! Do you have different titles for it? Like how Magicians are Sorceresses? Mother says it's because the male hierarchy is an obsolete sexist institution." Although that did not stop Queen Irene from forbidding her children to play with swords -- although that also stood for Prince Dolph, Ivy's kid brother; and because around the King, swords all could speak, they would tattle to their father if they tried. Here was an exception, but she had other reasons not to take that risk.

Rose couldn't help but chuckle at the girl's enthusiasm. "Well, your mother is not wrong. I was fortunate enough to be raised by a father who was a knight that did not see a problem with teaching his only daughter how to use a sword. Though none of the swords I have had in the past talked."

She goes to put the wand away and gets a saber type sword off one of the racks. It wasn't her sword, but it was balanced right for her. She turns back to Ivy. "When I got older, the kingdom I lived in started to allow women to become knights, and I jumped at that chance. The title 'knight' was the same for both men and women."

"Wow!" super enthusiastic. "I bet you're even better with a sword!"

She nodded at the idea of knights being either gender. "We don't have any formal knights. Just centaurs, but the ones at the Castle only follow Dad because they want to, and because they like it on the mainland instead of Centaur Isle." Mostly because Centaur Isle could also be a bit conservative or regressive when it came to magic and pure centaur-ness. Even Cherie had been that way, although Ivy still couldn't understand it, who wouldn't want to fly?

"But I have Hugo! I made him a knight when I was three, and he rescued me and Stanely Steamer from a tree." Ivy just watches cheerfully, unsure about using her enhancement magic without warning, so she just sticks to whatever is natural and from the conversation for now.
