She'd expected too much, thinking that he'd be at least the teensiest bit happy to see her. She'd been spoiled by the faces he wore more recently. The current one's miniscule smile before he grew too worried and frightened of her plan. And when he looked oh so young and begged her to regenerate and stay with him. She'd almost forgotten the time when those drums were slowly degenerating her sanity, sending her depeer and deeper into madness.
At first it stirred up anger for her Doctor, for locking her in a cage and trying to teach her how to be good. She wouldn't have this ache in her hearts if it wasn't for him. But... she somehow couldn't hold onto that anger. It burned out and blew away like ashes in the wind. All that was left was that knot of sadness and a touch of... what was that? Regret? Damn him...
She swallowed, sitting back and folding her hands properly in her lap. Her eyes dropped from his face, staring instead at the mess on the table. Was she really building the device for her? Or was she trying to do something to help? She wasn't sure anymore. After a moment of silence she spoke again, her voice quiet, almost contemplative.
"It's been centuries. Millenia, even, for me. A lot can change in that time." She paused, slowly raising her eyes to him again, "Even an utterly bananas Time Lady."
