Getting that particular bit of news was enough of a shock that the punch didn't really register right away. Well, that and the fact that Eleanor didn't exactly punch well.
"I told you what I was thinking," he said, only vaguely sullen as he rubbed his shoulder. "And for me, that was a long time ago. It's been over a year. As for the goons, don't worry. Janet got me out of it."
Since she was standing, he reached for her sleeve, helping her cuff it properly instead of just shoving it up to her elbows.
"So instead of shoving you through to the Judge's office, I shoved you through the mirror. ... That means we both got here when we thought we were headed to The Good Place. It figures."
