Character Meet and Greet: Winter Wonderful!

Rules | FAQ | Premise | Applications

i.Main Street

Main Street has settled in for January, but there are still Christmas Decorations here and there to liven things up a little bit. Feel free to shop, mingle with the locals or explore the castle grounds.

Though after hours there are still some shadows that venture into the streets. Not everything here is as peaceful as it seems, and it’s best to defeat the corroded trespassers before they cause trouble.

ii. Cookie Overload

Do you like free cookies? Of course! Everyone does. After the Christmas Rush, there are plenty to go around, available only after the sun goes down to any hungry passerby. There are cookies of all styles and flavors. But watch out for the dreader sriracha cookie. It will make you breathe fire in three flavors and gives a bit of heartburn after, but the aftertaste will leave you craving more.

iii. The Eighth Wonder of the World
Now that the jungle has been purified, Apprentices can wander through to explore all the things the jungle has to offer. Take a (still somewhat shambly) riverboat and explore the river, or come to chat and trade with the villagers. (Shrunken heads, two for one special!) But beware. Even though the jungle is purified, it’s not a safe place. In this kingdom of animals, someone is always hungry.

iv. Pin It On Them
Some smugglers are hanging around the outskirts of New Orleans, selling dubious looking items from even more dubious looking bags. Do you buy from them? Haggle? Steal? (not recommended) Or quietly try to alert any sort of authority (good luck) The choice is yours.

v. Battle Mesa Gate
While the jungle may be purified, many other Kingdoms are still seething with corrosion. Erstwhile Apprentices will find such corrosion on the banks of the Rivers of America, right where the jungle river joins in. Fight corroded creatures on the shore and in the water and be careful, they are stronger than they look and cleverer than they seem.

Fenton perked up and smiled at being called 'friend', if even casually. It was always nice meeting such friendly people like this. He listened then nodded. "Well... sounds like the Mirror really knew what it was doing when it called you, then. If you're already familiar with this whole type of magic and everything." He shook the man's hand, then his eyes widened. "Oh, wow! Nice to meet you, Obi-Wan. You're a real life knight? But... where's your armor? Or do you not wear that until you're about to go into battle?" He pointed at the lightsaber on Obi-Wan's hip. "You MADE that? You must be very technically skilled. That looks like a really complicated piece of technology." He paused, frowning faintly, scratching the back of his head. The guy had said he was a knight, and the robes he was dressed in looked like something centuries old... but the saber was WAY beyond any tech he was familiar with (and his own suit was pretty high tech, for his time at least). It was an incongruity that befuddled Fenton, but he wasn't sure how to put it to words, or how to ask about it. Maybe that's just the way his world was...?

"Ahh... sorry if this sounds weird, but... what's your world like? That has knights and all, but also high-tech laser swords?"

"Oh, it's quite vast." Obi-Wan gave a little shrug. "The Jedi Knights have existed for centuries, protecting the balance of the Force throughout the galaxy... the technology for light sabers is actually quite ancient. The hilts used to be made of a very particular type of wood, but as smithing evolved, well. More efficient methods were developed. Just as anything evolves, really."

He cast Fenton a patient smile. "If it is the contrast between my saber and my attire that confuses you the most, a Jedi's life is meant to be one of simplicity and humility. The lightsaber is a tool of defense, and if one is skilled enough with it, it is formidable enough that no weapon is needed."

He turned and surveyed the clearing, looking for a suitable target. The battle for the jungle had left many recently fallen trees, and a particularly large one blocked the path a little ways down. He'd been contemplating how best to surmount it, in fact, when the vines had taken advantage. He drew his saber once more and motioned for Fenton to follow him, then cut through the trunk - which was easily almost the duck's height - in two places, making a log the width of the trail to allow passage through.

"Normally, I'd be able to use the, er, Spark to move this, but I'm still learning its nuances here. But a good sized branch ought to provide enough leverage. See anything useful?"
