Character Meet and Greet

I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.

But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.

II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.

III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!

IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

"Wow. You must have a really boring campaign, mister. I mean, sure, the end of the world we're facing is worse than the usual crisis of the week, but there are even standard procedures in place for people to get out of the way of an adventuring party trying to stop the end of the world. But I mean, the gats are all one armageddon, I think. It's just that every one that is destroyed makes things worse. Like that huge hole in the sky at Azure City and stuff. This would be easier to explain with crayons."

Yes, he did stop in the middle of battle for exposition.

"You might want to pay attention to the... large... snarling... thing behind you that wants to attack you."

No? Maybe the strange little man would end up being eaten after all.

"Armageddon isn't a game, its very, very real."

"Right, thanks. Glad one of us passed a spot check," he said as he tumbled out of the way. "I'll help you fight!" And with that he pulled his lute off his back and began, of all things, playing music. And worse. Singing.

"Fight fight fight the eldritch abomination," he sang cheerfully. Over. And Over. And Over again.

That sound... that horrible grating sound! Worse than nails on a chalk board, worse than the Sound of Music, worse than magic shows... UGH! Crowley reached out and snatched the lute away.

"How does that horrible noise help me fight?!"

"It's called Bardic Music, it gives you a plus one on all checks. But I'm not sure how good we'll do against the monster if we're both playing...." So maybe give him back his lute?

"It's called terrible."

And you are so not getting this lute back. In fact in order to prevent anymore help he actually tosses the lute over to the werebeast. If that monster would eat that thing it would do them all a flavor!

"Have any useful ideas?"

"HEY! That was my lute!" But, thankfully he was prepared. "Actually yes I do," still miffed, he pulled out a kazoo and started playing it.

"HOW IS THAT USEFUL?"

He snarled, demons did that when angry, and reached over to snatch the kazoo away. It was far worse than the lute! At least a lute could keep a monster werewolf busy smashing it to pieces for a few minutes. What good was a kazoo?? It just made that horrible nasal-like noise.

"A sword! Do you have a sword?"

"No one drew my sword when I got here, so I can't draw my sword or get to the point of it all," he said. He was going to miss that kazoo. He put three ranks into perform Kazoo. "Guess I'll just have to sing."

"Please.... don't."

For a demon to use the word please it must have been a desperate situation indeed! But with how badly the lute and the kazoo playing had been he could only imagine how terrible the singing would be!

"How about you try talking to him? I'm sure you could calm him down... maybe get your lute back."

Or he could become a distraction, or better a snack. The werewolf might not be so disagreeable after a snack.

He scratched his chin considering. "You actually want me to take an active role in the combat?" he asked, getting excited.

"YEAH, active role, go on out there!"

Each word was barked like it was a separate order because at the end of the day, Crowley wasn't really a combat oriented sort of demon. He was a screw up... If some didn't fight that thing they were both getting eaten.

"Don't suppose you've got a sword?" he asked, eager to be of use!

Frustrated he held out two very empty hands.

"Do I look like I have a sword?? Do I even look like the 'sword' type?! You're supposed to be the great adventurer, don't you have some way to defend yourself??"

"I did, but no one drew my sword here, so I can't draw my sword. I don't even have a bag of small animals."

"Uh huh, look... you've done that joke twice now and it wasn't even funny the first time. What we really need to do is..."

The monster werewolf howled and having finished off the lute charged toward the hapless pair.

"Run!"

He ran with him. "Guess it's now officially a running gag!" he said with a grin.

"Am am SO feeding you to that thing!"

This was said but as they ran no attempt to actually throw the fellow at the monster was made.

"HEY! COOL!" he shouted as they ran. "You sound like Roy!"

"Really don't care who Ray is!"

He ducked a paw as it slashed at them just overhead.

"Come up with something!"

"Roy!" he happily corrected. "And I did come up with things, but you threw them all at the monster," he pointed out.

"Roy, Ray, does it matter right now? We need a USEFUL idea, not a poor retelling of the Music Man!"

He rounded a corner and found a narrow doorway to hide in. Maybe the werewolf would just run on by.

"It matters because if they have to reprint this to fix an error, we'll have to do this all over again," he pointed out like that was the most reasonable answer in the world.

He saw him duck into the doorway and followed. "We should roll a move silently and a Hide check," he whispered. "I GOT A THREE!"

The kid yelled... at the top of his voice while they were hiding from a huge monster with big sharp scary teeth... the kid yelled!

Crowley rounded on him and grabbed the little fool by his shirt collar.

"ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED!?"

But the demon barely had time to snarl at his unhelpful companion before the werewolf reached in, plucked him up, and tossed him out onto the cobbles of the street.

Before he had a chance to answer, his new friend was pulled away. But... OH! There was his lute trapped between the beast's toes! He darted in and managed to snag it free. "YAY!" He might fail at spot and move silently, but he had a good Dex score.

"On my next turn, I can help!"
