I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.

But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.

II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.

III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!

IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

LOOK OUT

Mal's brows went up into her now very blond hair. Not that one could easily tell, with how pale she was. But still. That was an almost impressive show of bravery there. Well, never one to be out done, Mal hopped up onto a barrel of her own. Never mind that she didn't have her spell book and hadn't started apprentice training here. She was an Isle kid. She grew up most of her life being the biggest and baddest without magic, and she hadn't grown so soft that she couldn't stand up to a monster or two here. Especially given her bag was currently loaded with apples.

She opened a compartment in the side to grab out two, tossing one to her other hand. Apples were great. They were wonderful. They were food. They were also... projectiles. Let the other guy make a big speech. Mal was throwing an apple right at the thing's face. She aimed to be, well, the cause of the apple in its eye.

And then there was a girl throwing apples at the creature. Not likely to be a very effective weapon on their own, but as a distraction? They could be very useful indeed.

"That's the spirit, darling!", he called out as her apple struck the vaguely feline monster right in the eye, making it yowl in mingled pain and anger and paw at its face. "An apple a day keeps the monsters away!"

Though a sword certainly didn't hurt either, and he took advantage of the situation to leap into the fray. Literally. He leaped from the top of the barrel, bringing down his sword in a long slash across the monster's back and giving it a whole new reason to yowl, before ducking nimbly away from its claws as it lashed out at him.

"Another one, if you please, Miss?", he called. Best to distract the beastie again before it had a chance to focus too much on him...

"The name isn't darling, it's MAL!" she growled as she readied another apple, waiting for the perfect moment. Specifically when it opened its mouth to take a bite out of him. She smirked and threw her apple right at the back of the creature's throat. "Choke on this," she muttered as her hit scored. She grabbed out two more apples, tossing one up and down in here hand. Odd how this was more satisfying to thrown than a rotten tomato....

Sylvando ducked away as the creature moved to take a bite out of him, but then saw another apple whizz by and fly right into the creature's mouth. It was slightly off target this time and didn't get stuck in the creature's throat as she'd perhaps hoped, but its impact against the back of the monsters throat triggered a gag reflex.

And the brief fit of gagging and coughing gave Sylvando just the opening he needed. With the creature thoroughly distracted, he slashed out with his sword, cutting deeply into its right front leg. Combined with the force of its coughing, the now off-balance creature staggered, trying to rebalance itself on three legs.

"Good shot!," he called out to her. "A few more like that, and we've got this in the bag!"

"No kidding," She snapped, ticked off that her aim had been off. She'd been throwing rotten fruit since before she could stand. Fresh fruit should NOT be more difficult. She threw one at the beast's eye with all her fury.

This time she hit her target dead on, the creature giving another yowl of pain. But this time, it also zeroed in on the location of its somewhat more distant source of torment and turned to snarl at Mal specifically. It crouched as well as it could with its injury, ready to bound toward the young woman.

And it almost succeeded in taking a step in her direction, before Sylvando slashed at one of its rear legs too, effectively preventing it from either fleeing or charging in the foreseeable future. "Oh no you don't, kitty," he said as it turned back to face him, dodging its clumsy slash. "It's me you want, not the lovely young lady with the apples."

She made a very rude snort at his words. She hadn't so much as flinched when the thing tried to go for her, she simply readied another apple. When it was distracted once more she settled the projectile in her hands, waiting. She knew the shot she wanted, she just had to be patient. She just needed it to lift its head just enough......

Whether she'd flinched or not, it would have made very little difference had the creature not been interrupted and managed to get its claws on her. But if there was one thing Sylvando was very good at it was being distracting, and, having seen her readying another apple, he did his best to maneuver the feline creature into an optimal throwing angle.

And soon enough the opportunity Mal had been waiting for arrived, the creature lifting is head to just the right position for her next throw.

She smirked and threw the fruit. Apple, meet adam's apple. She threw it right at the throat, this time from the outside. She's going to keep focus on the throat, one way or the other, because that could a small natural weakness into a real problem. She got her next apple and threw it at the side of the throat, faking a miss as she got the next one to hand. "Here kitty kitty, come and get me."

The throat was relatively vulnerable for most creatures, yes, and this proved true for the corrupted cat as the impact of the apple on it's throat caused another fit of coughing. One which Sylvando again took advantage of adding a few more sword cuts to the creature's growing collection. It was obviously weakening, abut also far too angry at this point to stop fighting, swiping at Sylvando with its claws.

He ducked aside as the next apple hit the side of the creatures neck with much less impact than the previous one. Though a quick glance at Mal showed that this had likely been a deliberate move on her part. So when the cat creature began to stalk closer to her in a bit of a wider arc, hoping to come at her from the side, Sylvando followed it, keeping watch on them both and ready to take advantage of it when Mal made her next move.

She had two apples ready, one in either hand. She made a strong throw with her off hand, deliberately aiming high to trick the beast into following the motion so that it was caught off guard when the second one hit it, right in the eye. "Guess I'm the apple of your eye, huh?" she smirked, grabbing two more apples rapidly, and realizing that she was... almost out of them. Well that was less than ideal.
