I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.

But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.

II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.

III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!

IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

An annoyed wolf growl, and Rose scoffed and rolled her eyes. "I'm not scared! It's boring! And it makes me feel trapped! You know Albert Einstein said everybody's genius, but a fish will spend its whole life thinking it's stupid if you only judge it on its ability to climb a tree! And yeah, I'm all for where there's a will there's a way, or I wouldn't be here. But I know how to fly, I know how to fight darkness, I know how to make friends, and save the Earth and dimensions no one's even heard of. But I don't know any magic."

A bad wolf huff. "And if I do, I cast one spell in my whole entire life, just one. And everything since then has just been following its trail of breadcrumbs and hoping the darkness hasn't eaten it away yet. And that means I can survive. I know where to be, and when to be, in the right place, at the right time, and not get eaten by the darkness... and that's it. That's all it does. I'm not an inventor like my Dad, I don't speak a billion languages like my best friend, and I'm barely even remotely psychic like Jack. I did one thing, and I did it well, but that's it. And it means that I never will be desperate enough to do it again, because I already did it once and spread it all over. I used it up, and there is no more." She gets up to stomp off.

"So you see, I'm just a fish being judged on my skill to climb a tree."

"No, you're a silly girl making siller excuses. Used it all up? We each get one great deed and then we're done? Bull." This girl needed a calling out. Thankfully that wasn't something Mal had to fret over, it was both a good and decidedly horrible thing to do. "Your friends can do more than you've done? That just means you've been lucky so far not that you're useless. But you know what does make you useless? You. This whiny little girl attitude that even Jane's finally grown out of and she's even younger than I am and was raised pampered. So, you want to be soft and complain that you can't, then cut and leave the rest of us who CAN do something to learn how. You want to have power? Sit down, shut up, and LEARN. If all you want is pity and sympathy? You picked the wrong kid to whine to. Try a mirror."

"Sod off!" Rose growled. "Not everything is a contest to you, you can't bring someone up by shouting them down. There's more'n one way to do anything, yeah, but that just means I'm not gonna waste my time trying to swim up air. I'll make a bloody rocket. But seein' as I've never done that before, I better get started figurin' out how. Don't assume just because I'm not doin' things your way, doesn't mean I'm not doin' nothin' at all! I don't want your pity, and I sure as hell don't want your compassion, I was just tryin' ta get basic conversation through your thick arrogant head! I appreciate the pep talk, but I'm so out of here."

There were so many reasons she hated school, this was another one of them.
