Character Meet and Greet

I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.

But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.

II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.

III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!

IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

"Really don't care who Ray is!"

He ducked a paw as it slashed at them just overhead.

"Come up with something!"

"Roy!" he happily corrected. "And I did come up with things, but you threw them all at the monster," he pointed out.

"Roy, Ray, does it matter right now? We need a USEFUL idea, not a poor retelling of the Music Man!"

He rounded a corner and found a narrow doorway to hide in. Maybe the werewolf would just run on by.

"It matters because if they have to reprint this to fix an error, we'll have to do this all over again," he pointed out like that was the most reasonable answer in the world.

He saw him duck into the doorway and followed. "We should roll a move silently and a Hide check," he whispered. "I GOT A THREE!"

The kid yelled... at the top of his voice while they were hiding from a huge monster with big sharp scary teeth... the kid yelled!

Crowley rounded on him and grabbed the little fool by his shirt collar.

"ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED!?"

But the demon barely had time to snarl at his unhelpful companion before the werewolf reached in, plucked him up, and tossed him out onto the cobbles of the street.

Before he had a chance to answer, his new friend was pulled away. But... OH! There was his lute trapped between the beast's toes! He darted in and managed to snag it free. "YAY!" He might fail at spot and move silently, but he had a good Dex score.

"On my next turn, I can help!"

"It's your turn now!"

Crowley managed to shout as he rolled clear of the monster creature's massive paws. He had no idea why this was a situation in which one needed to take turns, see a monster, thwart a monster... felt more the way to go.

"Oh! I won initiative?" Cool!

he took a breath and started strumming. "Dodge dodge dodge the horrible monster," he sang. "Dodge. Dodge. Dodge. The inevitable counterattack."

In his world, it would have given Crowley pluses to dodge. All it did here? Was tick off the monster and make Elan the new target. Whoops...

There was the bright side, at least he was no longer the target the strumming kid was. He might have said nothing but that often denied good streak of his had him shouting a warning.

"Whatever you are trying to do it doesn't work here! Run you little idiot!"

"Yeah, got that, but it isn't letting me know when it's my turn!" he called back, obediently waiting for turn order as the thing lunged towards him.

"There are no turns!"

The werewolf lunged with open mouth right for the little bard and only a yank of his tall prevented his swallowing the kid whole.

It was a horror for Crowley to realize he had just saved the kids life by putting his own on the line. As it turned out werewolves really hate having their tails pulled.

"You mean we all have the same initiative?!" Well that made things confusing. Seeing the monster spin to go after Crowley, he had a rare idea! "We can make it dizzy!" He started playing again. "Confuse confuse confuse the stupid monster!" he sang.

As the werewolf hated music he turned again to attack the boy with the lute and Crowley, thinking that this latest suggestion at least held some merit, dove again for the creature's tail. The wolf spun back around to attack the demon... but that annoying song was still playing! He swung around again and again, swiping at one pest only to be annoyed by the other and turn back around to attack them until he finally just fell over panting. Too dizzy to move.

"That actually worked!"

He sounded more surprised than impressed but thought to make good this opportunity! He found a line, might have been a clothing line or left over from some sort of decoration, and yanked it down. He threw half of the line to the kid.

"Let's tie him up before he can recover!"

Elan was elated that his plan worked! Roy NEVER let him make plans. "YAY! I CONTRIBUTED!" he cheered helpfully. And then he was even happier when he saw the other person pull down a line. Now they were going to swing dashingly awa... oh. Tie the monster up. Right.

"Is he supposed to be a recurring monster? Or is there some other reason we shouldn't kill it and split the XP?" Why were they tying it up? Not that he minded showing off his ranks in use rope.

Crowley looked up from his rope tying adventure to glare at the kid anew.

"Kill it? With my bare hands or were you planning on bashing it over the head a few dozen times with that lute?"

Eye roll. He might have been a demon but there were limits! He was not killing anything.

"That's a good point..." he said, thinking. "Do you have any magic then?"

Ever notice, Crowley, how it seems to be the good aligned people in your life that jump first to killing?

Well... he had made a few demonic suggestions that killing might be the solution here or there, it wasn't always entirely random, but good did turn violent more often than one would think possible.

"Not anymore."

He answered quickly and without thought. Regretting the words as soon as he had spoken them but it was too late to take them back now.

"If I had my powers I wouldn't have been running from this big stupid wolf!"

he nodded. "Okay okay, what about improvised weapons skills?" He was looking around and spotted some bricks that the beast had knocked free as it was chasing them.

"You keep talking but I have no idea what you are saying..."

Following the kid's line of sight he too spotted the bricks.

"You want to bash him over the head with some bricks? That's bold. If you are the kind who can do that don't let me stand in your way."

Having finished tying the creature up Crowley stood and moved well away to avoid any splatter.

Elan shrugged and set about gathering brocks to do just that. "I just need a bit more to level!"

He walked around to the monster's face. "for drama's sake I must offer you a chance to prove sentience by asking for last words." He paused. "Any last words?"

Please don't let them be sneak attack. Please don't let them be sneak attack.

The werewolf only groaned a bit dazed still from the runaround he had been given. Crowley almost felt sorry for the thing...

"If you are going to do that then I will leave you to it. What is it they say? Solo Exps?"

He waved a hand at the kid and turned to walk off.

"You don't want a share of the loot?"

"Nope all yours!"

He didn't even bother turning around, just kept right on walking. The kid could kill and mug the werewolf to get whatever loot a monster like that might have had entirely on his own.

He grinned at that, themn thought. It hurt. He called after him. "DO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE ORDER OF THE STICK?!"

Haley would love having anyone around who didn't want a share of the loot!
