Character Meet and Greet

I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.
But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.
II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.
III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!
IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

"Skuld!" It was exciting to see her and lugging her cannon along, she closed the distance between herself and the valkyrie. "What a great reunion! What sort of meat is that? Is it tough? Where did you get two?"
But after a moment she had to add: "Hey! Where is Hel? I thought you two were always together since I rarely run into either one of you individually..."
no subject
"I got them from that nice stand right over there. They are from a turkey and they aren't one bit tough at all! I was speaking to the vendor and apparently they inject each leg with salt water right before they cook it. That makes everything nice the tender."
With more than you ever wanted to know about turkey legs said, Skuld suddenly had a brilliant idea.
"You should go get one! They really are very good!"
That final question was the real kicker though. Hel...
"I..." She frowned slightly, "I seem to have misplaced her. But, she must be here some where? Maybe after you have eaten we could go looking for her?"
no subject
"I would love to! I want to taste what water and salt inside of a bird is like." Having been pointed toward the vendor, she motioned for the Vallkyrie to join her as she approached and touched her hands together. "Excuse me, could I please try one of those salt and water turkey meals?"
Smooth.
Frowns didn't suit Skuld. Canon felt a little bad about having caused one and furrowed her brow in thought. It was kind of odd to have lost Hel, she seemed to be
incrediblymuch moreresponsible of the pair of them. Maybe she was hiding or something?"Delighted, Skuld! To help, that is. It really is a shame that she seems to be missing... Maybe she took a wrong turn or two...?"
no subject
And Skuld's smile returned easily enough when the bright young girl agreed to help.
"That must be what happened! I'm sure with both of us looking we will be able to find her."
She leaned just a little closer.
"Apparently they are pulling heroes in from all over to help with one of their events. We are supposed to help them fight something called corrosion."
no subject
"This is lovely!"
It was much better to see her smiling than frowning. She nodded, finishing her meal before chucking the bone into a bin nearby.
"Without a doubt, I think. People take wrong turns all the time, I imagine Aesir also take wrong turns."
At the leaning, Canon mimicked to be closer in turn as though being told some great secret. She raised her brows.
"Heroes?" She'd never considered herself a hero but she was up to the challenge! "That sounds strange, corrosion? How did that happen? Do you have much information on it, Skuld?"
no subject
Her own meal was finished, or at least entered a lengthy pause, as she too threw out the uneaten bones.
"Once we find Hel we should see if we can help them. If we can discover the source of the corruption it would help everyone out."

blow up a wallpractice with her cannon. She scrunched her nose at the idea that there might be something akin to Ragnarok happening here, too. "That sounds just awful!"Canon nodded in agreement and pressing her palms together, brightened her smile with optimism!
"Great idea, Skuld! Where do you think she might have taken a wrong turn? Maybe retrace where you found yourself originally here? She might be nearby there since you two usually seem to be together, right?" Fortunately they were going off of where Skuld had turned up since Canon couldn't really recall the direction she'd meandered around from. "Are there any hints as to what might be the cause of this malaise?"
no subject
Thinking Skuld placed a finger to her lips and tapped it a few times.
"I came in near an old dark building, it felt really creepy. Just the sort of place some one might get lost inside."
She paced away and gave her wings a little flap, before leading the way to the spooky attraction.
"It was just down this road."
The old Haunted Mansion loomed up in the distance and eerily the door creaked open, seemingly on it's own, when they walked up the sidewalk.

Blinking her large, red eyes, Canon thought about the description. It sounded like a rather unnerving place but rather than be concerned, she was excited to explore with Skuld! Lugging her cannon along as though it weighed literally nothing, the cannoneer kept up with the hovering valkyrie and soon looked her eyes over the attraction. It was as she said: a darkened, seemingly antique building looming at the end of a long walkway. It somehow seemed as though it was stretching into the sky and getting longer the more she stared at it.
Turning, she smiled to the blond. "It seems as though we are being invited inside, shall we go see whom might be in there?"
Excuse her while she began to skip along the walkway, heading toward the eerie door where someone may or may not be waiting for them on the inside.
no subject
"I can't contact anyone from home. I think there must be some magic blocking us. Like, maybe it's easier to get in than to get out."
Bright smile as she happily says they are trapped here. Totally fine that! Nothing to worry about!
The Valkyrie landed on the porch and walked into the open room, accepting the invitation. Inside it was as dark and gloomy as it appeared from the outside only with more cobwebs.
"Hello!"
She spoke brightly as she ducked under a particularly massive web and it's large spider owner.
"Is anyone here?"
Looking back she pointed to the opposite direction to the one she was heading in.
"Maybe you should check over there?"
no subject
It had been a decent option but given some sort of magical barrier, apparently, it wasn't going to work. Like Skuld, however, Canon didn't lose her smile and seemed to be perfectly fine with remaining trapped in this place — whatever and wherever it might be. Surely, eventually, someone would be sent. Skuld was an important Valkyrie after all!
It was gloomy and dank, dilapidated and quite dusty but she trotted along inside as the door had been opened for them! Peering around, large curls bouncing with the movement, Canon attempted to make heads or tails of the dark place. Did anyone have a candle perhaps? No? Oh well.
"How odd. Surely there must be someone nearby to have opened the door..."
Turning to watch Skuld point out a direction, Canon nodded and lugging her cannon with herself, made her way toward all the more web coated flooring and walls of the house — thus putting distance between herself and the older blonde.
"Hello?" She called, lifting to the very tips of her toes to peer behind a set of particularly once beautiful stairs with idly lain boxes beneath them. Petite, she failed to really see anything behind there and scrunched her nose at the dust she'd disturbed, coughing slightly at it only to end up sneezing. "How undignified." She muttered to herself.
"Have you spotted anything, Skuld?"
no subject
"It looks like they are inviting us to stay longer too."
At least the house lights began to flicker on to make up for the lack of sunlight coming in through the barred door. It was still dimly lit, more like candlelight flickering and dancing along the walls, but at least they wouldn't trip on anything.
"Shh," Skuld spoke again quickly holding out a hand at Canon. "Do you hear that?"
From some where deep within the house the distant sound of organ music began to drift up into the parlor.
sorry for late on this one too >>
but who ever said Canon was logical?Aggravated with herself for being without a handkerchief, Canon glanced toward her Valkyrie friend when she spoke and requested silence. Following the order, the pig tailed girl grew all the more silent and like Skuld, listened for what she seemed to be hearing. It was pretty albeit somewhat grim; the melody had something of a sad feel to it while simultaneously coming off as sinister somehow. Fortunately, none of that would stop Canon from seeking it out!
"Skuld, I think it may be coming from this direction..." Canon motioned toward a door near the step of the stairs she had located. Closing the distance between said door and herself, Canon took a hold of the knob and unlike the front door, it clicked and released, opening up with ease. "Oh, lovely! It appears to be opened, shall we descend?"
/pets/ It happens
"I think we should. Maybe we can find the owner of this mansion down there."
The floorboards creaked under her feet as she made her way to the open door and peeked in. A long dark hall led to a set of stairs at the far end. The pictures on the walls were eerie. Gaunt men with long faces, women who seemed to scowl as they passed by, and the eyes! The eyes of every single one of those paintings seemed to follow them as they moved down the hall.
"It's... it's nice?"
Skuld decided uncertainly as she decided to stay very close to Canon's side, for mutual protection and all.
that icon XD
"Perhaps the host entertains down there given how much dust litters this floor," unfortunately the dust was likely to chase them down the stairs to the next level, too. The floorboards were slightly unsettling but only because they sounded uneven and someone might trip up on them. Someone being either one of them unless Skuld opted to hover. Then it was just herself! Similarly to the Valkyrie, Canon's gaze lingered on some of the portraits hanging on the walls. She slowed, scrunching her nose at a particularly bitter looking old woman. Tapping a dainty finger to her lips, Canon decided to raise her hand and waved it! She had expected the eyes to follow it back and forth since it felt as though she had been being very watched, but...
"...odd, I could have sworn the eyes were following each step we took. Do you think it some trickery?"
Nice, it was not. The noble young lady couldn't fake appreciation for such ghastly portraits no matter how hard she'd try.
Great isn't it?
Skuld opened the far door and squeaked nearly as loudly as it did when a very odd looking chair hovered over to land beside it. The startle factor for in the next minute she was beside the thing, poking at it with a bold finger.
"A large black chair with room for two people! It seems normal now."
She paused and hummed thoughtfully.
"Maybe this is part of the invitation? We're supposed to sit in this?"
Why not, she finally decided as she plunked herself down on the padded seat.
"There is room for you too Cannon."
love it!
"It may be?" If not, it wasn't as though they couldn't just rise from a chair! She moved in front of the seat and brushed the tuft of her dress against her backside to sit without wrinkling it! Her palms met with her knees and gingerly, Canon kicked her feet. "Well, this is nice but still very lacking in comprehension. Do we just wait here for our host?"
It was nice to give her feet a rest either way.
