serpentinthegarden: (Things are bad)

His nose scrunched... oh yeah, sounded terrible. He wouldn't know a thing about that! It wasn't like he had a best friend, an immortal, who was so idiotically well-meaning at times that he blundered his way into situations so dangerous that while he couldn't die would have discorporated him resulting in his getting in trouble with his head office, possibly replaced as Heaven's liaison on Earth, and the only reason that never happened was that you, breaking the rules set out by both angels and demons, stepped across those established lines to save him... only to now be facing a threat so enormous that centuries of protecting that angel wouldn't mean a damn thing. No one could stop Armageddon, could they? They had already tried and failed. And Crowley himself was destined for what, to be ripped apart by demons for being a traitor or by angels if Hell should lose the war... a long dive not into a pool of sulfur but into one of Holy Water? The future was not a sunny one.

It wasn't like watching Azriaphale die over and over again... but being powerless to stop something was a feeling he understood and oddly enough he also understood the grief of being parted from some one you cared deeply for. Shouldn't have, being a demon, but he did. The thought of being torn away from Azriaphale by this war was unfathomable. It caused an ache deep down in his being that he simply didn't have the word for he just knew he needed to fight against it.

So lost in his own thoughts he let Rose walk off. Only when she had managed several paces away from him did he finally come to.

"You don't even know that the Darkness you are fighting is the same as the Corruption the Kingdom is fighting. Could have different causes."
