Character Meet and Greet

I. Exploring Main Street! Take a trip through a little town taken straight from 1890's America. Visit the shops, dine at the restaurants- but don't forget you are here on a mission. As an Apprentice, you will need to gather some supplies. A weapon, or tool for producing magic.

But we understand if that corn dog cart on Market Street is your first stop.

II. Apprentice Class 101! Practice your spell casting and weaponship on the open commons behind the Firehouse. Sparring, casting or just general confusion abound here. Try not to hit anything or...anyone, the paint on the infirmary is still drying.

III. Look out! A level 2 corroded monster has managed to get onto Main Street! Protect the citizens and defeat the cur, and please watch the damage, the paint is still wet!

IV. One Little Spark! Go ahead, show us the strength of your imagination and come up with your own scenarios. Just, stay out of the Corroded Lands...if possible.

Rose grinned kindly. She was good at spotting people out of sorts, and given how out if sorts she was about magic the feeling was all too familiar. Luckily, she was an expert in domestics.

"Want help, mate? It can be a bit rough, your first time, yeah?"

Rose bit her thumb. "I've always thought that... But I'm lousy at school, and I can't do magic. Think it was sucked out of my universe or something."

She beamed at the request, practically glowing. "I think I'd be very good at that. Who d'ya need me to con?" The Doctor and Jack never let her use her cuteness to conquer!!! Clearly it was just too powerful!

Hell. [Blandly, as she starts walking.]

“You need the right teachers is all, the settings are irrelevant. As for magic, You’d need someone to check the force lines on your dimension, I know a guy I could recommend.”

“Start asking questions of those who have been here longer. You play cute sweet and innocent, I’ll play up that pervect reputation, and when we compare answers we might find something close to the truth between.”

"I'll try anything once, even if I have tried magic before..."

And a nod. "Mm!! Okay!!" she is desperately latching onto having a new mission; something easy to focus on and distract her from the fact that this all might mean she can't get back to the Doctor.

He nodded. "Questions should focus on what exactly is the conflict, what can we learn about the other side, how do they expect us to fight, why do they expect us to fight, how will we be compensated, how do we get our stuff back, and if they wanted help why didn't they just ask."

"I don't know either." a beat. "What don't we know again?"

Seriously? Aahz raised one scaled brow as he shook his head. He didn't understand Khlads, and he supposed he never would. So eager to be the big hero that they get everyone else hurt trying to bail them out. He wasn't getting paid for any of this yet, but he supposed he could do this one as a freebie.

He pushed himself off the wall casually and watched, waiting for the moment when the bird's beak went for the man again. Then Aahz stepped calmly between them, grabbed the descending beak in a bear hug few non-Pervects could manage and smirked up at the creature. "Want to dance?" he asked the bird, applying more pressure.

There was an audible crack and the bird's eyes widened. "Here is what we're going to do. I'm going to let go, and then you are going to leave, without sampling how anyone here tastes. Otherwise?" he licked a tongue over his 4 inch sharp teeth. "Otherwise I will get to see how you taste, and as there are no decent restaurants here, I'm on the peckish side. Are you?" With that he let go and dropped to the ground, watching the bird take in his small form, and then watching it cross its eyes to see the fracture in its beak.

The beast chose the better part of valor. Aahz nodded, then turned to face the Doctor, looking unimpressed. And a little annoyed.

Rose hummed quietly. She already knew what the conflict was!

"Corrosion is what happens in the final stages before darkness. Nothingness, unreality. A corroding timeline starts falling into heavy decay, destruction, death, but then it undoes itself, it goes dark, nothing at all, not even part of the void."

She rubbed the back of her head. "They expect us to fight with magic, but I don't got any!" she insisted again.

And a Bad Wolf huff, "And we'll be compensated in things still existing, including us, and I think this is asking, it's not like they kidnapped us... well maybe they kidnapped you, okay I'll make sure no one's been kidnapped against their will!!"

He shook his head. "Not looking for your answers, looking for theirs. Get it?"

That aversion to marveling at his brilliant invention didn't surprise Kaiba in the slightest. In fact he wholly expected it would just serve to shut the other up. Guys like him couldn't admit when they'd been shown up.

Vorse Raider, menacing looking as he was stood there patiently awaiting orders. A smirk drew up one side of the teenager's lips. "Pretty lifelike isn't it, just like I said." Then just as swiftly as the monster appeared, it dissipated in a flash of light as the duel disk was deactivated.

"That was a duel monster, or at least the holographic projection of one." You could never convince him that they had ever been real in any dimension or time period.

I.

The short green demon was in the shop already, examining the swords disdainfully, complaining about the balance and workmanship. He glanced to the new comer. "You look like you might have a head for weapons." he picked up one of the throwing knives, flipped it in the air till he held the point, then used that grip to launch it towards Atem. "Catch. Tell me what you think about this one."

"You have a way to contact your lawyers. As I presume they're off dimension, I could pay you a fair sum towards those lawyers bills if you could either drop me off on Deva or have a message passed along for me," he said, amiably enough.

"Yes sir," an eye roll she didn't really hide. Ahhhhh this was the problem with getting missions from anyone else, Rose didn't really take orders well, even from her Dad.

"... but dhey wouldn't have ta throw it away if you didn't touch it in the first place." Logic was generally not Joey's forte but even he could tell that this was flawed.

When the bagel started to disappear, he had to fight back a whimper. I mean sure it looked like it had been sitting out too long, and that it wouldn't be all that filling but it was still better than nothing.

Joey could have really gone for a few free samples right now himself which is why he was more susceptible to Crowley's dishonest suggestion.

"No, maybe not but..... it still doesn't make it right." There good, solid. So he had his convictions, ..... and an empty stomach.

"Trust me, hearing how someone else says something, even when you already know the information, ESPECIALLY then... it tells you more about the person than they ever intended to reveal."

She whines like a wolf puppy. "I guess... But I've been fighting the darkness all by myself for so long it feels weird to treat them like enemies!!"

"Different kinds of Darkness, might be that we should even be fighting for it. Or negotiating peace. But we won't know trapped in expectations."

"If you are trying to insinuate that you were somehow compelled into the act than I must say I am dubious of that concept. Although my observations on demons are greatly lacking, does your species lack free will?" It was a genuine question, since there was still much Astral didn't know about various worlds and their inhabitants. Stealing a bagel certainly didn't sound like it was something anyone would do to try and bolster their pride, or make a name for themselves. Maybe there was something to his claims.

"It is going to get worse?" Astral's face looked as stricken as if you told him he had contracted malaria or some other deadly disease. He needed this thing, this hunger to go away before it became incapacitating.

"Still.... there is something I do not like about the act. Perhaps I could simply ask someone to spare a little food."

Rose crinkled her face. You can't argue with darkness. Or negotiate. "Ever try to negotiate with an infection?"

The sound of the dogs claws skittered against the tile floor, as it double-backed. "You won't be getting out this way." Atem remarked sounding a little smug for his efforts. That smugness faded when he realized where it was aimed. Once he was sure this door was fastened he took after the purloined article of clothing once more.

Thankfully the funny looking stranger had seen to the opposite side of the room. It afforded Atem ample time to snatch up the dog, but the dog and it's stolen goods were swiftly forgotten as the soap suds quickly rose. "By the ....". He trailed off and the dog wriggled free.

"Not that much," Or so he thought. "Only about a cupful."

"I made it actually. Had a bit of a cabinet to put together once."

He fished around in a pocket but came up empty. 'Empty' in the sense that he didn't find the sonic screwdriver. Actually his hands were positively overflowing with little bits and bobs. He dropped a few buttons and stood up to shuffle about to see where they had gone but didn't stop to pick them up straight away.

"Now where did I put it?"

He looked quickly to the other student in the room and deposited most of the stuff which included a yoyo, a ball of string, and a bunch of crumpled up pieces of paper into her hands.

"Hold this will you?"

And he went back to patting his pockets. A search which produced a small paper bag that he unfolded and took something from before he held the bag out to Rose.

"Would you care for a jelly baby? They are quite good you know."

She squints at him when he says he made it, and as he starts pulling things out, she beams ear to ear. This is familiar. She plays briefly with the yo-yo, and was about to hug him and call him Doctor, when she realized, he had to be from before he met her, with a small pang of the heart.

But she beams again when he offers a jelly baby, "I'd love one, ta!" She takes a yellow one and noms on it cheerfully. "I used to freak out my Mum, only biting the heads off when I was a kid," she grinned impishly. She desperately wanted to figure out when he was from, but before the Time War, had to be, and asking who his friends he was looking for would be moot and probably kill her with jealousy if Sarah Jane was any indication. "Do you think you could make another one? Screwdriver, not cabinet. My dimension cannon was taken too, I thought by the darkness, but a demon bloke who had his D-hopper taken said I was drinkin' the Kool-Aid if I believed that."

"Really, that was all it took to worry your mum?"

He shrugged and took another from the bag just so he could bite the head off. Not that the rest would be going to waste. A jelly baby, even a beheaded one, was too good to just throw away.

"Some one is going around stealing technology? Maybe that is what happened. I could make a new one of course but it would explain why I can't find my screwdriver or my TAR--..." A pause to blink at Rose before settling on a change of term, "My cabinet. Any idea who would want to do such a thing?"

"Defender of Earth?"

He scoffed with a demonic chuckle.

"You don't look like much of a defender. What could you possibly do against two supremely powerful beings like them?"
