I. Main Street Usa!

It's twilight, edging to evening, and yet the streets are still alive with citizens and Apprentices (that means you!) alike. Take the time to admire the lights, pop in and out of the cafes or just relax in the garden.

Weapon shops and magic shops are open late into the evening this time of year, so feel free to enjoy yourself before you equip yourself for the life head.


II. Apprentice Training 101- Evening Class

Same commons behind the fire house, same weapons and wands available for practicing your skills-- though this time under the cozy street lights and the bright blues and tired purples of a fading summer twilight. Strike at the training dummy or try to catch fireflies with whispers, its all up to you.


III. Things that Go Bump

Are bumping. And they mean business. A few level 1 corroded monsters are scurrying around Main Street causing havoc and it's up to you to stop them. The question is, is it early in the evening or do you dare to face the creatures at the night's darkest hour?


IV. It's time to Sparkle!

Everyone has a spark of imagination. That is, in fact, why you're here! It's time to shine with your own scenario! Just try to keep from causing too much trouble.

Feeeeeeeeeeast!

Ace was not so good at the once-a-day-from-each-place diet they'd put him on. Oh sure, he'd literally been starving for a month before he got here, they don't feed you in the bottom levels of Hell, but he was still from the D family and that meant he needed food. And lots of it.

He twitches torn between inhaling on instincts, and trying to be polite and realizing that this young girl probably had gone to great lengths for her picnic that he must not ruin.

With a grin of gritted teeth on the verge of cracking: "May I partake of this wondrous treats?" a bow as well.

Because this is too hilarious to not do it.

She looked up, clearly about to tell him yes from the smile on her face. The smile that froze there for a moment before she FLUSHED bright red and squeaked. "Um..." she said in a small strangled voice, quickly looking down at her legs. "I... don't suppose you could put... on a shirt?" she mumbled, red to the tip of her ears.

XD so cruel!

Ace tried not to glare. She's just a kid, after all. But SERIOUSLY?! What is with this place and their obsession with shirts? It's too hot for them anyway! Hot and humid! The humidity being the worst part, because even in the desert, Ace could see reason to bother with a jacket.

"I'd really rather not," he grumbled blandly. "Men don't need shirts."

Yep. But seriously, who is going to realize she's a boy when she does stuff like this?

[nadenagi]

"O...oh." she flushed harder and kept her eyes down. "I'm sorry," she said in a small voice. "I didn't mean to upset you." She sounded like she was on the edge of crying.

"Likewise," he frowned and crouched down to eye level. "What's the big deal about shirts anyway? If I wore a shirt, no one could see my father's mark, and it's my pride and treasure."

She looked harder at her hands, still bright pink. "Dad says that I'm at an age where I shouldn't be looking at boys unless they're fully dressed with pants and a shirt on," she mumbled. "Unless we're at the beach, he says it is okay at the beach, but wouldn't explain why..." she sounded frustrated and embarrassed and still at the edge of tears.

"Well, your Dad's not here so who cares?" Ace couldn't take it anymore and definitely started nibbling on some food. And by nibbling... mostly inhaling while she was looking sideways.

"He may not be, but my brother is," she mumbled, sounding grumpy and still refusing to look at him, still flushed.

"Yeah, so?" om nom nom nom nom.

[nadenagi]

"So?" she asked startled, looking up in surprise, then bright pink and eyes back on her lap again. "Um... I mean..." she even seemed to be breathing hard. "Just... I'm not going to stop being a good girl just because my parents aren't here." Ah sentences with double meanings, a troll's best tool.

"Good," Ace snorted and wiped his mouth on his arm. "Aren't you supposed to look people in the eye during conversation and respect your elders?" A nod with a don! "I'm not going to put a shirt on just because your father isn't here to tell you Whitebeard pirates are too free for that! I'm not even sure he'd know what one is. But see, my Pops gave me this mark, to prove to the whole world I'm his son, so I'm going to cover it up for anything."

[nadenagi]

"I'm supposed to, yes, but I'm also not supposed to look at undressed boys," she protested, looking at her hands, still.

[ace_of_hearts]

"I'm not undressed," an annoyed tone, "I'm wearing shorts. I wouldn't want a scrawny kid like you seeing me naked anyway, I'm not that creepy and perverted." Huff. "And I prefer older people anyway, they know what they're doing."

[nadenagi]

She flushed even darker and grabbed a cloth napkin, holding it over her face.

Time to play a bit more. she let her shoulders start to shake slightly. It worked for Rima, after all. Nadeshiko wasn't above learning new tricks.

"What are you doing?"

He's a pirate. And kind of an idiot. These regular ploys will not work. They require someone who can grasp subtlety and actually cares about social norms. If he cared about social norms, he'd wear a shirt.

Hey, don't count her out yet. "N...nothing she mumbled, sounding like she was trying not to.. there it was. A sniffle. Kid was crying. You just made a little girl cry while eating her food. Congrats.

Nope. He doesn't care. Maybe he should have told [the mun] better about that kid on Wano Island still waiting for him.

He told her to grow up a bewitching lady ninja.

Ace is a god damn disaster.

"Okay," Ace shrugged and dug into more food.

This is personal growth for him. He used to punch people when they cried. So it's probably good that he doesn't think she's crying.

He was a tough one to crack. She'd have to figure out where to move to next after this. Hmmmm. This was so much easier with Temari around. Well, also safer with friends nearby, rather than here all alone in a strange new place. Her hard swallow and the single tear that slid down her face weren't feigned. The small "I want to go home," that came out as a shaky whisper was only half feigned, though it sounded convincing.

"Why?"

Yeah, that was the worst tack of all. Now he thinks you're crazy.

[nadenagi]

"Because I don't know anyone here and everything is scary and I can't even look at the only person who has come to talk to me all day, and I miss my friends and my school and my parents and my own kitchen. I had to get a job to buy the food and the clothing and didn't have enough for shoes and all my shoes are at home because I came here in my nightgown," she said with a small hiccup, the napkin now in her lapo being twisted up as she cried. "and I thought if I could just make a few new friends then maybe this place wouldn't be so scary. And my brother is here but he ran off somewhere and I haven't even seen him since yesterday...."

"Give your brother some time. Brothers need time like that. Luffy was always hunting me down and dragging me around so I never got a moment peace. I'm Ace. Portgas D. Ace. And now you've made a friend even if I'm going to stay shirtless." He's not even sorry. "Hello."

[nadenagi]

She sniffed, still looking down at her napkin. "Fujisaki Nadeshiko. My brother is Nagihiko." She sniffed again and swallowed. "I thought you said I was too scrawny to be... to be interesting." Another sniff.

[ace_of_hearts]

"Only for dating," he explained bluntly. "Call me in another ten or fifteen years if you feel like it. But yeah! We can be friends 'till then! So long as you don't mind that I'm always going to be like this. Or worse."

[nadenagi]

"Worse?" she asked, squeaking.

A sigh. "I can try to tone it down for friends."
