That is quite an interesting bureaucracy. He wonders if that's how it really works. It's both a sort of relief to know that humans do get another chance, but also wondering what is the point then of themselves? Are angels or demons really necessary? Or are they just there to provide a little variety in the human's lives? It seems to him that they provide enough variety to themselves and whatever use angels or demons have had in the past has long since lost its usefulness. It was a strange feeling, both freeing and disconcerting and depressing all at once.
